Went to a Lowes today and walking back to my truck (it was raining so my XF was tucked warm and dry in my garage) and saw a clean red XF roadster to I detoured to check it out. Surprise, the owner was sitting in it so I tapped on the window and talked to him, asking him if he was a member of our forum.

Said he was, but who knows. Told me he was president of the local corvette club and also had a Viper. Then he told me this wasn't a normal XF but had the 330 hp engine of the SRT. Hmmmm, leather interior, retracting wing. He said it was an 08 and that he special ordered it from Chrysler and that the 330hp models were being made to ship to Australia but were available on special order.

Was I being bs'd or was this correct?

 

I bet he wasn't willing to open the hood for a peak,was he?

 

I'm betting BS. A special order like that would likely involve MB and/or Karman. I would take bets that all of the '08 models are all built and MB and Karman are done with Chrysler.

Just my opinion though.

Yeah whenever I meet another Crossfire owner I usually tell them it also transforms into a Uhaul truck for moving large items.

are you sure he was not driving a sewage truck because that was a load of crap he gave you.

 

I'm not aware of any 330hp Special Edition Crossfires coming to Australia.
It does appear that another shipment has arrived. The local dealer now has five (5) new Crossfires available, only one is an SRT.
I will make enquiries at the dealership in the next few days and see if I can find out more about any Special Edition models.

 

The SRT models are 05 right? Just marketed as new?

That's what I was told last year when this came up.

 

Get the build number off of the SRT6 if you can for the database. Last 6(?) digits of VIN.

But hey, I've got a Viper too, so what do I know.

 

Get the last 8 digits so we can see the model year also.

 

THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THESE ARE LEFT OVER 05's another thing to check is the gauge cluster new style or old style SRT6 dead give away. I made a pillar and gauges for a member who had a new style SRT6 cluster and seats talk about EXTREMELY RARE probably one of the last on the asembly line.
