I think it's its biggest rival has to be the Smart Car.... that thing is a beast.
One blew by me today on my way to get some coffee. I was jogging by the way, haha.

That thing reminds me of a Jetsons "car"

Actually Ford just sold of aprx 22% of its stake in Mazda leaving a puny 11 or so percent left.

I still like the RX-8. Although the rotary engine is still one of the dirtiest burning engines I've ever seen... well besides a coal locomotive.

Power to weight ratio. The Japanese get it. They dont understand the meaning of torque, but they do understand the power to weight ratio concept really well.

And the bhp is 252. I don't know how you would lose 100 horsepower.
Weight is unofficially 2930 lbs from what I could find.

Some one do the math.

the 04-08s make on average 150whp when equipped with the 6sp and the autos are even less... a buddy of mine works at Rotary Resurrection and is big into the rx-8 community. he'll be the first to tell that the rx-8 is a lil overrated and several other people can confirm this as well.
