Default Need Continental 18" tire

I scratched a front wheel several months ago. I bought a new wheel and had the tire and tire pressure monitor swapped over.

I have found a nearby shop that will repair the scratches in the rim and paint it so the damaged area cannot be found--he claims!

He wisely asks me to mount a tire first so the rim will not be scratched when mounting a tire later. I suppose the extreme low-profie tires are tougher to mount. I've ordered the spendy little tire pressure monitor from the dealership--nearly $180 but now need a tire. I want a Continental Conti-Touring P225/40ZR18 92 W CW 95 just like the originals so they will all match.

Please let me know soon if you know of one available. The locals all want in excess of $225 for one while I can get one from Tire Rack on the Internet for $179 delivered but I'd rather find one among us.

Thanks, Jim

Sorry I can't help with the tire, but he is correct about having the tire mounted b4 doing cosmetic repairs. The Wheel Dr. uses 4" wedge blocks to keep the tire down and away from the repair area. Once the rim is repaired, there is no issue with using a tire changer while the paint is still fresh.

Thumbs up Re: Need Continental 18" tire

Note: I still have the 18" tire for sale do it for $80.00 and you pay shipping which runs about $30.00 by UPS I think, we can check the shipping. Tthe 19" sold, and the guy provided his own shipping, so I don't know quite what he paid.

Thanks for your prompt response. The photos show enough that it looks like the same tire.

I can get a new one from Tire Rack for $163 plus $16 shipping and it will have a warranty with it so I'll go that way. Time is important as the shop wants me to get one ASAP so they can finish the wheel.

Thanks again, Jim

Tire Rack notified me yesterday that the tire had been shipped. The dealer delivered the Tire Pressure sensor as well so I'm nearly complete with my restore project.

Thanks, Jim
