Out of my curiosity...
I think roadsters are awesome, and extremely fun...But after owning a few, and spending years dealing with leaks, whistles, holes, and a less audio friendly environment I have gone back to coupes. I just enjoy the solid enclosure more now, road noise is down, and the stereo sounds better.
Personal opinion all the way, but I would still get a roadster as a side car.

DROP TOPS ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I owned my first convertible in 1981, and have and always will have a drop top.
I really like that I can have the top up or down on a sunny summer afternoon.

I love cruizin on warm summer nights in a Roadster. It's one of my favorite things to do in a Sports Car.
But when it comes to how they look...give me a coupe.
XKE....coupe

Viper....coupe
Porsche 911....coupe
BMW Z4....coupe
1972 Ferrari Daytona....coupe

I do not think I will ever own a Roadster... I do not really like them. They are easier to break in or damage, as mentioned before... they kind of disrupt the look of the car, insurance is more expensive, more prone to leaks and rust, more things on the car to break (top motor), etc...
I think I am just more of a closed individual. A Roadster would be too "open" for me.

some years back, I bought a convertable .... a guy I worked with saw me drive up to work one of the first mornings I had it and he said to me 'hey, I thought you were older than that' ....
'what's old got to do with it', I responded ...
'when you get older, you get good sense' he replied ...
well, I'm older now alright ... the good sense thing is still in question but the experience of having a soft top for me was this ...
cold or wet weather - top up
really hot weather - top up
going anywhere in any weather with MrsS in the car - top up
(my hair is getting messed up ... please, PLEASE put the top up)
AND, when I bought my Crossfire, I was able to work out a really really good deal on a coupe ... a LOT better deal than on the soft top that was sitting right next to it ...
so, it came down to this: heart may tell me I still really want a soft top but my head, my wallet my past experience and my wife all tell me I'm really happier with the coupe ...

I think the lines of the coupe fit this car better. My wife has a roadster. We like both but I prefer the coupe, she prefers the roadster. So we have one of each.
I like the coupes better in most sports cars. Such as the Jaguar E-Type, Triumph GT-6, MGBGT. Even the BMW Z4 coupe is cool. This coming year the Pontiac Solstice will off a coupe as well. I think some of the cooler coupes are the one that were designed to be roadsters. As opposed to Crossfires that were designed to be coupes in the first place. Remember, Our car is based off of the Concept Crossfire. Can I respect the Crossfire roadster? Absolutely. If I could afford a 2nd Crossfire it would be a roadster. Just watching the symphony of actions in lowering the top is worth the price of admission. In the end end though my Harley is all the roadster I need.

I voted Convertible, cause I own one. But my opinion is with the top up I like the coupe better, the lines flow better. But with the top down, I like the convertible better.
I used to ride motorcycles and loved the rush of being so out in the open - I get that same feeling with my roadster. There is almost
no greater feeling than cruising down the road in the 3-digits with nothing between you and the world!
Out of all the drop tops I looked at over the last 3 years, I chose the XF because it is the best looking 'vertable out there, period, dot, end of story. All the other recent production models look funny, odd, big booty lookin, awkward, clumsy, fragile, . . and this one looks the best with the top down.
Don't get me wrong, I will try to buy a tight topped srt6 someday. Black, because they are the fastest.

If the Crossfire were my only car/daily driver I might have gone for the Coupe - from the first time I laid eyes on a Crossfire I fell in love. Everything about the lines of the coupe just works, in my eyes. It's a very uniquely styled vehicle with wonderful design touches throughout. I still want one.
But I have always wanted a little roadster as a weekend toy and several years ago picked up a beautiful little Emerald Green Mazda Miata simply because I wasn't willing to spend full pop for a Crossfire. I couldn't justify that kind of money for a car that wouldn't see a ton of road time. But when Crossfire prices started to plummet I reconsidered and dumped the Miata for what I really wanted - a 6 speed Crossfire Roadster. Absolutely freakin' love the thing.

I love the look of a roadster when the top is dropped, not so much when up. I've lived in Big Cities too many years I guess, they're just too easy to get into. It's a coupe for me !!!
That's just my Dos Centavos

As someone who has owned both (2004 SSB Coupe, 2006 Limted Roadster) I find that I like the roadster a little better. Some car models really suffered when the manufacturer developed a roadster version in terms of comofort, body stiffness, weight, etc., but I think the execution of the crossfire roadster by Karmann was particularly good.
I also think that if you view this car as a sports car or GT, then you don't mind the noise, etc. of the roadster. I actually think you give up very few creature comforts with this car in convertible form. For those owners that switched to the Crossfire from Accords and Buicks, I could see where the coupe would be more comfortable..
As far as styling, I really like the lines of the roadster. With the top down, it is simply stunning. Some other models ended up with hideous roadster renditions of attractive coupes.
I live in Ohio, so unlike you guys in Texas, Florida, Cali, etc. I have limited top down days. But it's still my daily driver, and I love it. I soldiered through many a winter in MGBs, TR6s, Fiats, etc. So the Crossfire is pretty damn nice IMHO.

Well....?
I own both!
Overall I really can't choose.
I did vote for the coupe. Because the coupe is no nonsense just hot.
The convertable is more of a novelty that is fun for special occasions.
Both are great cars!
