Electrical problems with fuse blowing
Quick recap... my dealer took my center console apart to fix an AC problem. I used a damp cloth to wipe down the center console panels (maybe it got a little too wet). I go to use my side mirrors and it moves for a second and stops. The fuse is blown. The car sat in the sun all day in 80 degree temps. I replace the fuse and it blows again after a second of the mirror moving. Do you think it may still be damp in there? Or do you think it is more of a wire issue cause by the dealership?
It is very possible. I am getting tired of bringing it in. This will be #4 (which includes bringing it in the first time for the original problem).
I tried to move the mirror with my hand and it won't stay in the place that I set it. I may not be using the force that I need to... but I don't want to break it. I just put a few more fuses in and each one broke instantly. Definitely a problem with the wire. A short maybe....
Do they blow without trying to move the mirror, ie an immediate short failure? If so get an ohm meter and connect it and start trying to follow the wires/ cable.
BTW water wont blow fuses in a 12 v circuit, it will lead to rapid corrosion but can not conduct but a few milliamperes.
