Default Is the SRT worth the upgrade??

I've been thinking about getting back into the SRT from my N/A I've found one and it'l probably involve around $8,000 plus my car (remember this is in Australia) Being a previous owner of a SRT I know how awsome they are but apart from the extra power I dont know if it's worth all that extra money. What are everyones thoughts??

Thats a tough one. I have a SRT but I imagine the non SRT's brake and handle close to the SRT. Perhaps have a better ride. For me this car is a toy. An enabler. I bought it thinking it could be a daily driver, and it could, but what it does best is go. So I protect it by not going places where they have parking wars, etc. and go to the race track every chance I get. Auto-x and 1/4 mile. That is where it's real talent lies. And the fact that afterwards while others are loading their cars on trailers, your putting the air on and adjusting the radio for the cruise home. If you don't plan on driving the SRT fast, don't trade. Stay with what you have. If you truly enjoy and are thrilled by the handling and acceleration, get the SRT.
JMO of course.

For 8 grand put a v8 in the one you have now and get a srt front end and that will better than any srt out there.

I have never driven a base or limited ,but I own two srt's. I look foward to driving one everyday, The combo of power and hanheling is awsome. For me the passion of driving these cars can turn an ordanary erran or business trip into an adventure. The after market bolt ons that are available now thru Needswings, TVT,LET,Eurocharged and others can transform these cars to near super car performance numbers. So if the passion is there for you I would say go for it, but only you can decide. Good luck and enjoy.

I have had both a N/A and a SRT6. People can say....just drop in a V8, but know one has truly unlocked this cars ECU and Startech's conversion was done once and is much more than the $8K number people talk about.

Although these cars look similar, they are completely different. I would advise you to drive an SRT6 while you still have your N/A and see if you like it. I bet you will!

Kolevski,
You are the one that has to live with it is something you need to decide. Since you have had one before you know how they perform. I had a SSB '04 Coupe and a matching SSB SRT6. They were both fun to drive and I loved the NA. Great gas mileage on the NA. But if you look at my signature you can see that I dont have the NA anymore. The SRT6 is so much fun to drive I decided to trade the NA for the Aero Blue SRT6. I took the SSB SRT6 on a 3100 mile trip last summer and it was fun and surprisingly comfortable on the long drive. Gas mileage averaged about 24mpg. I think you will be happy either way. You'll just have a bigger smile if your in the SRT.

Let's see:

SRT6 - Upgraded AMG big brake package - $2000
SRT6 - Upgraded AMG handling package - $2000
SRT6 - Handcrafted 349HP supercharged AMG engine upgrade - $10,000

Annihilating that ricer with the super gay sounding fart mobile muffler and hideous Walmart looking wing - priceless

Kolvski, driving in Australia is a lot different than driving here in the "States". Well it is according to my Wife (who lived there) and all those "Mad Max" movies. So I don't know if your average "American" Crossfire driver can answer your question.
Since you have owned a SRT before, you know all about them, I guess it simply boils down to one question, Viper-like acceleration.
How important is that to you? I notice in your avatar that you own a "Crotch Rocket", so it must mean something. But does your scooter satisfy your need for speed enough to warrant having a much more sedate performing sports car? Only you can answer that one.
If you're not into "Drag Racing" at the track, or the "Stop Lights", I'd say keep the Limited. Better fuel mileage, less mechanical issues to deal with.
The 30 mph greater top end is really irrelevent. I mean what's the difference if your doing 150 or 180. The bugs smashed on your windshield, and the Roos splattered on your bumper and hood are still going to look the same. Besides, you can't get a SRT in red.

Thanks guys are your responses have been greatly appreciated, To be honest I am a rev head and I love having the power, here in Australia there are alot of ricers but alot of V8 muscle cars and the worst thing about having the N/A is that it looks like a really fast car and it attracts alot of people wanting to drag but I never do because I know I'll get embaressed.

The two things holding me back now are the extra money and the colour, I never liked my old SRT's colour and I've always wanted to own a red or black Crossfire. The SRT I'm looking at is Aero blue which is a beautiful colour but I'm not sure what they look like in real life I've never seen one so I guess I have alot to think about, the dealer will get back to me on Tuesday so I'll be sure to let you all know what I end up doing.

and BTW in Australia the difference between buying a second hand N/A and a second hand SRT-6 is about $35,000 +, thats why I'm lucky I found the one I did its sticker price is $42,999 with 65,000kms 2005, Mine is a 2004 with 12,000kms and its worth in the lower 30's, I wish the prices between them were as close as they are in the states

There aero blue must be seen in person to realize how deep the color is, and the metal flake looks great. I get ask what color its and how great it looks all the time.

I think Chrysler made some pretty big mistakes with the crossfire...
No mt6 in the srt
Chrome windshield surround on all but the base
Not including a white srt
The price point

I know it's just one persons opinion and you can't please everyone but the manual tranny is a pretty big one.

I would invest the 8grand right now. This is the perfect time to strike, while the economy is in absolute ****.

In short, yes; it is absolutely worth it!

A perfect example happened today at lunch. I'm sitting at a stoplight where there are 2 lanes, I'm in the left. The right lane ends about 1/4 mile up the road. A couple cars come up behind me and wisely stay behind me in the left lane. That is, until an orange Mustang GT (not sure what year, but current body style) jumps into the right lane and times the light to get a bit of a rolling start. I mashed it and took him by a very easy margin. When I jumped in the left lane up ahead to make a left turn, he passes by me with his thumb up out the window.

Immature? You bet! Will I be grinning like an idiot the rest of the day because of that? Absolutely!
