If you guys get a FLAT!?!?
What do you do? To me, Crossfire's not coming with a spare tire is pretty lame. I don't think they should have had 2 different sizes. Also, since these are thin tires, if you get a flat you can damage the rims right?
I'm looking to buy one soon...and that's really my major turn off. Even though I love the car, safety still comes first!

Get a tire plug kit from the auto parts store for a couple of bucks.
The car comes with a small air compressor and some slime sealant.......don't use the sealant. (it destroys your TPMS sensors)
BTW....many cars come without a spare, Porsche's , Corvettes, Lamborghini's , Ferrari's , Maserati's all just to name a few. Are they lame as well?

As long as you're looking at coupes, just bungy cord a couple spares to the roof. I agree that having two spares because of the different size tires is stupid, but that's the price you pay for looking good.
Or you can follow previous advice and/or join AAA/CAA.
I have 32k on my roadster with three trips from MI to CT and never a problem.

haha i didn't say the crossfire was lame...i love crossfires..i said that's the only thing lame about it
and i know...i've been driving for about 2 years now...and i've never had a flat before. but, i'm just saying for safety reasons. plus i wouldn't want to damage the rims if i do get a flat.

I have a 2007 base coupe. I don't think it has the tire pressure monitoring system. I looked in the manual, and there should be an idiot light that shows up during the start up process. I never see it lit up. That must mean that I don't have the system. It also means that I can use any old tire sealant. Am I thinking correctly on this? Thanks for any reply in advance. As a new owner, this forum is fantastic!

Some people have purchased a donut spare to carry in case of an emergency. The fact that the tire sizes are staggered really doesn't matter, because we don't have a LSD.
Winstonscifi, you're right, no monitors in the base. No problem with using tire sealant. Until the guy changing your tire comes across it. Then he'll probably call you a few choice names.

Or as apkano suggests use the air compressor that's in the trunk and a tire plug kit. I'd throw a bottle of water in there with the kit as it will make it alot easier to find the leak.
I also came down hard out of a driveway off of the curb.. cracked my rim but my tire was fine..
I don't think you'll have any issues.

I have had two flats in the first two years, 6,000 miles. The first was a slashed sidewall that went down quite slowly and I did not see the TPMS light because my hand hid it from sight, this resulted in a lot of sidewall and internal damage to the tire, but it was toast anyway. The second was a nail in the tread. In both cases no rim damage occurred until the idiot who put on a new tire scored the rim. He had assured me he never damaged rims, I would have laughed in his face but I was crying too much at the time.
I do not think the Conti's tread are too thick though and may be prone to punctures, the sidewalls are quite thin of course.

i test drove a couple of used ones..but there were no air pumps or anything in the trunk

Somewhere here it was suggested to include a needle nose plyer in the repair kit. Together with the tire plug and cement, and tire plug insertion tool(s), practice (use an old tire to learn how to place the plug), combined with the compressor and slime (read the directions and decide if it's for you...) you can deal with some problems and get off the road.
Sidewall cuts are usually fatal to the tire. High speed interstates are not the place to take apart a wheel and work on it. If I could not get well off the road without getting stuck, or had a sidewall disaster, I probably would phone AAA and call my next destination reporting my planned lateness...
Read your owners manual while you're waiting for AAA (you will have plenty of time), locate the tool you need for removing the front panel below the chin (what? There's a tool for that?!) and if the driver goes for the front, do him the courtesy of removing the panel and showing him the proper anchor point. Your front suspension will thank you...
And I'd watch the AAA flatbed operator like a hawk to make sure he doesn't blindly fish around under the car until finding "something solid" to put his meat-hook and chain onto. I hate to say it but a large number of these guys are know-it-alls and don't like being "coached". But being a know-it-all myself, that makes us even and since it's my car and me paying, I get to be in charge... As my wife likes to remind me "Say it like you mean it but you don't have to be mean when you say it..." Yeah OK.
Does it count that I always tip the ones that do what I tell them and send the ones that don't away without me?
Or if you really think all this sucks, go get a car with a full sized spare and learn to use the jack.
Now having said all that I am hoping I have counterbalanced the bad juju I am about to create by saying "I have not had a flat and I'm on my third set of tires for this car." Oh no! Seriously, one thing you can do for yourself is stay out of those little piles of sand and crap that pile up on the side of the road and in between the on-ramp and the main lanes, and pay attention in gas stations and parking lots - there's lotsa crap you don't want to drive on that gravitates to the sides of the lanes and never mind how it gets into the driveway of the gas station....
Today I came around the corner in the parking lot at work and there was a perfect piece of slate shaped like a triangle standing point up, about three inches tall with a nice indian arrow head edge. Just another rock on the road if you're not paying attention. Yeah, I skipped that roll of the dice.
