Will this MB Wheel / Tire combo work as a spare?
Hello, everyone--
Currently attempting to get my head around which MB wheel /tire combo will work as an effective spare. Here's the info--
MB ML350 17" wheel
Tire is ML320
Width is 7.5J / 235
Bolt pattern is 5 x 112 mm
*Will an 18 inch wheel with similar characteristics also work?
Can I toss this one in the trunk, then call it a day?
Thanks for all of your help and comments!

I would not want any tire laying loose in the back of my car, in the event of a sudden stop I would not want to be struck in the back of the head with a wheel.
Having survived (hopefully) a front ender and with my face planted in an air bag I would not want a wheel striking me from behind. The seat backs are not meant to stop a flying wheel. Even a roll-over would put you at risk. It would be ironic to survive a serious crash only to be killed by your own wheel.
The wheel would have to be tied down very well with a stud and not bungee chords or rope.

That's true about a loose spare possibly flying around after impact, but if your a little adventurous like me chk. e-bay or do a google salvage yd. chk for a MB DONUT SPARE SLK 320. I bought one from a totaled 2004 SLK & it works beautifully when you apply air pressure yet when it's collapsed it sits tucked neatly below the height of the seat back by more than 6 inches lower when stored upright in the trunk area. You can even create your own brace & thru bolt it to the floor if laid flat. Many ways around it!! The bolt holes are an exact. Good Luck

I hope this helps. If you can actually get/twist your head around the MB wheel and tire it's going to work. Use this as a guide. It takes a pretty good stretching of the neck to do this. Good luck. Let me know if this works.
