The leather is meh.

I would prefer a simple black interior, none of this two, three tone crap.
My crossfire has monotone charcoal interior...

Well, as a full-time college student, I'm sure you'll make this all happen and happily abandon your crappy, cheap Crossfire.

To everyones applause. I sure the folks over at Bimmerpost will welcome you with open arms. Someone will, I'm sure. Probably. Maybe.

Yes and the BMW leatherette is basically indistinguishable from their real leather. I really like the orange BMW leather it looks nice with Blue.

I never said the crossfire was cheap. I just think that for the class of car its supposed to be in, as well as the price tag these things had, I could expect something on par with bmw, or even mercedes. The interior to me, for what the car is supposed to be, is lacking.

That being said, I do like the car, alot, its just what I want out of it isnt reasonable. I look at two things when buying a car... Power potential and aftermarket support. I figured I'd buy a crossfire since its something different and hopefully the aftermarket will catch on since at the time it was a new car. Its been 2-3 years and nothing has changed. I'm simply saying that for what I want out of my cars, the crossfire isnt a realistic solution.

I think that's fair enough. BMW 3 series are nice cars and I've driven a few in my time including an M3, 328, 330. In all honesty; I prefer the rarity and feeling I get in my Xfire... it's just different. In the USA, it might well be another case - but here in the UK, one in every three cars might be a BMW; there's just nothing special about them at all. Even M3's and M5's - they are a dime a dozen. Of course, this doesn't make them any less of a car. The M5 is epic in each of it's incarnations - almost supercar performance in a big hulky saloon. In which case, comparing it to an Xfire is a tad silly; they are nothing alike. For me, a car is more than it's 0-60; more than it's top speed... I like cars with a story behind them; cars that are a result of some twist of fate. The Xfire is one example of that... whereas a BMW 3 series is about as 'normal' as you can get. Once again, not taking anything away from them; BMW's are generally great cars.

As for cheapness for interior. The Xfire loses out with it's silver centre console but for me, that's where the cheapness starts and ends. Everything else is straight out of a Merc' so not sure I follow you on that point.

I get what you are saying as I have spent a total of 5.5 years living in Europe. The BMW 3 series is the European equilivant of the United States Ford Mustang. You can't fart or blink without seeing one. Both cars are very good cars in their own respects, but I for one, do not like to feel like I am a lemming.... Following the flock.

I am trying to figure this out, you have been talking about getting different cars since before I was a member, but at the same time, you are on a quest to beef up the XF and put a FI system in it??

I have heard about M5's, 350z's, posche's, etc all as cars you are thinking about getting. Just as I have heard about 20" + 22" stagger 'just because I can' as well as a host of internal parts that would cost a fortune to have made.

From what I can gather, you seem to have the knowledge and ability when it comes to cars (much more than me) and I enjoy following your turbo thread, but make up your mind, please. Stop talking **** about the NAs and how there is no aftermarket support, you knew that when you signed on, and as you said, nothing has changed. Either sell your car and be done with this community and its 'lack of support' and buy something else, or actually do something with your XF other than slamming it and posting nothing but negative comments and stuff about this Z06, this is an XF forum.

Rant ended.

The true test of another's intelligence is to what extent he agrees with you. Well said.

And about time too.

Infinite, your constant and all-encompassing negativity is really tiring this old man.

To the "Ignore List" you go.

From an overall perspective, I think the Crossfire, and especially an SRT-6, is pretty hard to beat. It's a lot of car for the money. An SRT-6 is not far off the mark compared to a lot of very expensive performance cars, but costs a third as much. Sort of like a German WRX. Yes there are better, faster, sleeker, newer cars, most of them with better interiors. And just about all of those superior cars are in the $70k to $120k range.

Exactly; I suppose it is a cultural thing to some extent. For example, when I was last in the States, VW's seemed to be considered somewhat exotic / and like a true luxury brand... I might be wrong but that was the vibe I got. Whereas over here, VW's are simply everywhere - and while considered to be good, they are completely mainstream and considered to be one of the cheaper brands.

On the same note, there are everyday American cars that you Americans would probably not look at twice - but if driven here in the UK, would turn every head in the vicinity...

I suppose the mystique of a car is related to this phenom somewhat and for me, can't help but be a part of a car's character. Despite some poor reviews in the UK, for the Xfire; I still get stopped and asked 'who makes that?!' or 'what is it!?'... it's a car with a story. The ******* child of a failed partnership between two automotive giants from different ends of the cultural spectrum. I doubt we'll see anything as bold from such an odd pairing for quite some time.

Anyway, like I said before; BMW make great cars; there's no doubt about it but to compare a super-saloon (M5) with an Xfire is crazy... like Apple and Oranges really.

Because over the last few days of actually talking with real people, not emails, about having hard parts made for this car, its simply not within the realm of "efficient" to make this car seem anything close to fast. 1800 for rods, 2k or so for pistons, 1000 for a flywheel (ludicrous) it keeps going. Parts I can get for other cars for a fraction are stupid expensive for this car, and theres barely any of them.

I figured when I first bought this car that the aftermarket would catch it and run, looks like I was wrong. Hell, the 370z has only been out about a year and a half, it already has so much aftermarket support that I could build a Rolling chassis from parts.

Im just saying, I bought the car thinking it would be possible to turn it into something it can't be

So do us all a favor and sell it to somebody cool and go get yourself a 370Z rolling chassis. Roll on, man.
