Smile Oil change

Hi everyone..
I dont know if this is somewhere else one the forum.
i just thought I would ask this anyway as I'm in a hurry right now.
Basically my brother and I did the oil change on the Crossfire (2004).
I was wondering how I can reset the maintenance indicator on the dash.
The one that informs you on when to get the oil change. It has a little wrench with a number letting you know
when to change the oil,/get it serviced.
Right now my indicator is at -900 miles which is really anoying...
Thanks for your help guys.

Lee

Just type FSS in the search box and take your pick from the results.

From the owners manual page 114:

1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the ****/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the ****/button, while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the ****/button.
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.

5. Release the ****/button.

It worked the first time for me, but I understand that sometimes - if it doesn't work - it has to be repeated.

I have tried for almost 2 years to reset this thing and followed the instructions to a tee. I have even deviated thinking I was doing something wrong. All I ever end up doing is resetting the odometer. Here is a pic of my dash.

Wait, you've been trying to reset it for two years and you are only 730miles over the suggested service schedule... thats impressive.

Yep, been at 730 for the whole time. Kind of my point. Can't reset and it never changes.

I don't think the Germans could have made the process any more complicated.

Pizzle, it sounds like something might be broken.

This may sound kinda crazy but here goes. If it is NOT broken, your dealer can use their computer to reset the FSS. I guess if it drives you crazy it might be worth a shot.

I had trouble with this also. Tried several times. Finally, after getting the
current status displayed, I pressed the **** while tuning the key off and
continued pressing while runing key on. After a few seconds, it reset to
7000.

This is probably the DAYS past due, not miles. My original NA was -3xx when I bought it and it clicked over 1 every day until I reset it. You probably have maxed out the counter. 365 x 2 = 730, two years.

The instructions must be followed to a T. The first time I tried to do it, I had to try several times and it never worked. I printed out the instructions, had my kid read them to me as I went, and I finally got it right.

The second time I did it, it worked first try. There is no forgiveness. And mine too had the same number (-730) until I got it right.

The thing I can't get to work is the test to see the state of the oil (it's supposed to give a reading). The instructions say that if it doesn't work it's a malfunction... I have a feeling that feature is flaky right out of the box.
