Default Sold my X-fire bye bye

Traded my X-fire off today on a Pontiac GP for my wife. I got $12,500 for it, not bad in today's market. Trade in values are around $9500-10,000.It had 43,000 miles, new (mostly) engine and overall in good condition. It did need a rear tire. Overall, after 1 1/2 years of ownership the car was stunning to look at. A bit of a harsh ride on a short wheelbase, the lower roof line for side sight, and no line of sight for backing up made for a difficult ride for me. A convertible would be nice to have. I got tired of not being able to put my golf clubs in the back. So, to all the friends I've met and talked to, the best to all of you. This is a great site for information and I'll visit now and then. I hope all of you get your side-skirts that were ordered.Bye-bye Now, where was that Porsche I saw recently.

First, sorry to see you go. Best of luck with a ... Pontiac?

Next, the number of owners is staying the same. We just haven't been introduced to the new ones yet!

New owners will come and go like me. These cars were very well built and should last a long time with care. I just got one of the off ones with my motor. Thanks folks.

The GP's are nice for a family sedan. The XF will destroy it in every performance category.
Hopefully you'll be back with a Roadster.

Good luck. A few seem to think we married our XFires. That, folks, would be a sad situation. Having said that XF is one hell of a car that brings a great deal of joy...

My wife needed a new car more than I needed a toy. I got her old car for now, but she always knows that I'm lurking and looking for that special car just for me, the ones she does not like or cant drive.I'll find something out there. We've had a Gran Prix for the last 9 years and it has been one of the best I've ever owned, never a problem.

Let's see. Crossfire = no longer in production, long term service and support questionable, dropping in value. Pontiac = soon to be out of production, long term service and support questionable, value?

XF = fun as heck to drive. Pontiac = ?

I would have rented a locker at the course and stored my clubs. But then again, I've given up golf 3x in my life and have not touched a club, nor missed it, in the last 14 years.

Just sold my daily driver grand prix because it sat for the last few months after I bought my XF, can't stop driving the damn thing.

Have to admit, glad I am headed in the XF direction and not back to Pontiac, but a great everyday car. Good luck.

Well the G8 sedan's not so bad. If I needed to carry four in speed, I'd get one. Unless GM's killing off Holden, I think we'll see parts for it for some time to come.

And as the GP is a favorite rental fleet vehicle, you should be able to get parts from the junkyard for years to come.

And get smoked by G8s

Hey hey hey, stop flaming me for getting a Pontiac. IT's FOR MY WIFE,not me. I love sports cars of all kinds, Crossfire is one of them. If I ever get another one, it will be a convertible.

"I would have rented a locker at the course and stored my clubs."

i've golfed since age 11 and my clubs would go before the crossfires. and i've been golfing longer than i've known my wife.

not that there's anything wrong with that.

Sorry to see you go,

But like a typical golfer, you gotta get a bigger driver

I don't know if that's really true (that it's a "more common" thread). If you check out the forum back to it's beginnings, you'll see that there has always been a mix of short and long term owners. The short term owners will always come and go, and the forum participation of established owners tends to decline as they figure out their cars.

I too am sorry to see established owners leave these forums. It's true that those who leave us are varied, though for all sorts of obvious life and economic phase reasons, younger owners are much more likely to turn over a 2 seat sports car. Luckily for all of us, there remains a stable cadre of long term owners who are not in the throes and vagaries of their younger adult lives. I hope and expect they will continue to be here for all of us. Those of us have no need or reason to part with their Crossfire's. I'm definitely happy to be one.
