Default Crossfire Vs BMW

I was able to race my Crossfire aginst my friends 2004 BMW 330i zhp package(Performance Package) automatic. I knew i would loose but agreed to race anyway and was shocked when I won. I had him by about 4 car lenghts!!! The Crossfire is a lot faster that I thought it would be with only 215 hp. His BMW had about 230 hp

Yes, they're quicker than the feel.

I'm still amazed when I read the reviews of the XFire and they say:

1.Not very quick (they must have never hit the "go fast" button under the accelerator- it will throw me back in the seat every time);
2. Not quick steering (they want quick and smooth or jerky?);
3. Absorbs bumps well (mine doesn't);
4. Comfortable seats (the bolsters and wings squeeze the heck out of my butt, ribs and shoulders)

I'm working on the seats with back supports that raise me out of the bolsters and wings a tad. I get used to the harsh ride when I know I can go straight fast or corner with so little lean compared to ANYTHING in this price range. And there's not a better looking car on the road (OK, maybe the new Jags are close).

I can keep up with my husband's '06 Jag XK8, and it's not because he'll 'feel bad' if I lose. His car will take off quicker than mine (sports auto versus my 6-spd) because I still cannot figure out how to shift quickly enough and his car has almost 300 HP - but it also lugs along an extra 100 pounds as well.

And we're on bluetooth while we're pacing each other, and I realized that our tachs read almost the same, so it's also not that my little red pillbug is redlining just to keep up with shepards pie.

All that being said, being able to beat a BMW is more than cool. We used to have a 323is that was surprisingly fast.

BMW is 225HP and 214TQ

XF is 215HP and 229TQ

Torque is our friend I raced a newer 328i the other day and with the minor mods I have, I destroyed his automatic driving ***, it was great, he wouldn't even look at me at the next light (I was going to tell him he had a good LOOKING car LOL)

I beat a 328 in late feb or mar. it was 2am and i was going home. i didn't want to race him but he made me. road was completely empty, but he wouldn't get off my a** or go away. so off we went 65-120. i had 3-4 car lengths on him and let off, but he kept flying by and away he went. apparently that many car lengths isn't enough of a statement that he lost.

i also beat an E46 M3 at US41 last weekend. R/T's were about equal and i crossed the finish line first, with a faster E/T as well... I win.

I was surprised by beating the M3. Oh well, his loss is my gain.

EDIT: on the mbworld forums there is a guy who has "BMW LOL" as his liscence plate. I thought that was great...then again there is a heavily modified BMW that has "AMG LOL" so its a never ending battle...

It's funny because between my friend I've the pleasure of beating a 135, 335i (not the diesel which has sick torque), M3, and an M roadster. But then they make fun of my 325, and we're even.

Just adding to the victory.
The ZHP package ups it to 235 hp and 222 torque.

0-60 crossfire = 6.5sec
0-60 bmw zhp = 5.8sec

it all comes down to the driver mod, but the car def. helps

What is this ZHP package? I worked at a Dinan authorized BMW dealership for over two years and have seen most things Bimmer + performance, never heard of this, and it seems a little fishy that 20 HP is knocking off almost a second 0-60

The zhp is a performance package for the stock 330 made from 03' to 05'.

I have a feeling that the 6MT XF is actually somewhat faster than 6.5 to 60mph.

I have an iphone and on it I have an app that will time your cars 0-60 using the phones accelerometer. I have timed 5.6 with the traction control off.

It probably is 6.5 when you hammer it off the line... The traction control kills the time when it is triggered. My friend was very impessed when he drove my car yesterday, he kept saying "this thing is f'ing fast!" His car is a 1.8t jetta that runs 6.5 sec to 60. My car definately feels faster.
