Default $46,000

PRESENT OWNERS
Most of you have said you paid around $36,000 but would you have paid $46,000 ???
Thats how much we'll be paying in the UK if it is 28,500.
Still with no official pricing how much do they think they can squeeze out of a stone.
Gordon suggests a 400 increase before we've got a starting figure so at the moment the skies the limit.

What do you pay for a Mercedes SLK over there ?The SLK starts around 46K over here in the US. The crossfire has better handling and performance than the SLK.

320 slk 32,000 (with the badge)replacement 2004/05
3.2 v6 audi tt 29,000 (i've seen one and woudn't bother) stock tt looks except for v6 badging

For 30k so much choice just depends on what you want.So many speed cameras it's harldly worth having a car that can do over 80 unless you do track days.
The car was ordered for it's looks, nothing else like it a year ago but the more I see hyundai coupes I'm beginning to wonder. (2.7 v6 19,000 inc 5 year warranty )

Its just the waiting and lack of info p**sing me off.

Macjake, come on Please, Hyundai Coupe!!. Have you ever driven one, its horrible you feel like your going faster in a Mini One.

I'm as frusatrated as all of us are due to the lack of Feedback but as far as price goes, you have to compare like for like. The US market is completely different. If you could sell a 35 pence mars bar in the states for a 1.00 because a snickers bar was a 1.00 wouldn,t you sell it at that price.

In the UK market the Crossfire is fully loaded with no extras to buy.
Yes the RX8 is cheaper but ISNT as fast [ despite what they claim]
Yes the 350Z is cheaper [ check out that interior, yuck!]

Its on a par with the TT V6 in price and package but the TT is getting Tired, there is just too many about, the V6 is no faster than the Turbo and the Gearbox is not all its cracked up to be.

Sorry but I think Chrylser UK have got the price right. It just a shame they dont seem to know how to sell a great car here or in the states.

To my mind thats the Marketing departments fault and terrible customer relations.

Didn't come across as phrased,it meant I've just red this.

Don't think too many of us will be mentioning the korean influences in the car will we,just the german ones.At least if we find out where they are sourcing parts we can shop around if we need spares!
At the end of the day it's nothing new to borrow from a parts bin look how many jags, landrovers, lotus's,aston martins still get sold, its usually only the ones that cant afford the cars getting that picky.Let them buy the looky likey,it'll be cheaper for sure but where will their parts come from?

At 28,500, does that include VAT and other taxes?

Because if it does, then we Yanks aren't paying $36,000 either, depending on which state, tack on anywhere from 0% to 10% sales tax and plus various registration and fees.

VAT is a price killer for me when I shop in the UK, but hey, I guess you got to thank Margy for that.

I think price comparisons across countries are never fair, there are just too many variables to consider.

Mouserider, I guess it is easier for us in the U.K because by law, the 'On the road price' must be quoted which is what you actually pay. So the 28,500 includes everything.

Just a question for Brits. Is it not possible to got to the factory, buy the Xfire and take the Chunnel or airboat back to England with your new toy? Just wondering, since I have a buddy who picks up a MB every few years at the plant and drives around Europe for a few weeks on vacation and then has it shipped back to the states. Couldn't you just go get one where they got em, at the factory?

BigMike, I'm not sure how they do it exactly, but even if they hop out to Germany and pick up the car, they would probably have to get one out of the British/Right-side allocation since they drive on the other side of the road in the UK and the rest of the EU drives on our side. Not to mention the flipped MPH and KM/H indications as EU uses KM/H and UK uses MPH.

Mercedes has been allowing this for quite a few years now, part of the attraction is a tour of the factory before picking up your car from a collection point at the end of the tour.
I think the collection package was about 400,fly over then drive back (uk).

Your right, MB have always done that but we have been able to import cars from Europe for ages. My wifes 206CC we got from France direct. You ahve to pay the UK taxes and nearly always wotks out cheaper.

However with the Crossfire the RHD allocation is only 610 and they are all sold so no chance of going down that route.

Someone in the UK has imported a LHD model,a mate saw a SSB on the M4 around Reading about 2 months ago.
