Does anyone have pics on where you have mounted your GPS? I'm looking for some ideas.

Proclip is the only way to go....in my personal opinion. Have a mount for each vehicle so that I can take my Garmin everywhere.

 

My wife made this one. Velcro holds the GPS to the bag, the bag has a non-skid pad sewn onto the bottom. Take it from car to car with no problem.

I've got a TomTom OneXL and it has an integrated suction cup mount, so I mount it on the windshield of which ever vehicle I'm using at the moment.

 

 

no pics, but I suction cup mine on the glove box....

 

I suction cup mine on the dashboard, right over the speedometer. who needs to watch the speed anyways.

James1549, what's in the bag to give it weight so it does not shift around? I've seen the beanbag mounts but they cost $59 and I won't spend that much to replace a perfectly good suction cup.

Does anyone have a good close-up picture of the Pro-clip mount that mounts lower on the right side of the console , angled at the driver? If so, could you please post some picks? Thanks

I decided against that lower mount just because I didn't want to have to look down to see the GPS. With the upper mount, it is almost at eye-level and only requires a quick glance. It is also much easier and faster for the GPS antenna to get satellite fixes, and it is easier to hear the directions because the speaker is not down in the footwell.

Just a few things to think about.....

 

Thanks for your comments and recommendations. I have another companies air vent holder...and it is not secure enough and moves when cornering. It sort of clamps to the vains in the air vent...do not like it!

Is this air vent holder more secure? Also...can it be easily put on and removed...I only want it there if I am using the GPS.

Also...does the clip scratch the paint?

I do like the mount higher at eye level as you mentioned. That is ideal as long as it is sturdy.

It is probably the sturdiest mount available and doesn't attach to the air vent itself. I'm not sure why you would want to remove it but to each his own. As you can see in acrispy1's photo it clips inbetween the panels. Constant removal would most likely end up marring the panels. While not a permanent mount, I consider it as such. It does come down in front of one of the center vents but it does not block it.
