Engine Overheating?
Ok on hot days the engine temperature gauge is going a good bit over the middle line. It goes to the line above that, is that normal for this car? It dosent seam good for it, it happend today when the outside temperature was 92.
Thanks
Thanks
I live in Georgia, and on the hottest days my temp. gage hits spot on in the middle - in autumn/winter/spring, it is always below the middle line. Perhaps I just got lucky with a great breathing engine, as I can only speak from my own experience. Anyone else see this on their rides?
Normal driving, its just a hair below the 1/2 mark. In heavy traffic it is at the 1/2 mark. Most of the Dragon unless coasting, it is a hair above the 1/2 mark. I don't think you have a problem.

This may sound odd, but if you're coolant reservoir is too full it will run a tad hotter then normal.
There are no breathers in the system so when the coolant gets real hot it causes a ton of pressure and if there isn't enough expansion room in the coolant tank it gets hot and gets hot fast too.
You can install an inline breather, reduce the coolant, or just get it real hot and then pull over and crack open the cap to let out the pressure and you're good to go.
I went through 3 thermos thinking they were stuck closed before I realised this odd little issue.

I noticed the same issue before as well... Since I have a sportbike as well that runs hot as hell (2005 Yamaha R1), I bought some Motul "MoCool" and tried it on the bike... Worked wonders, to the point that it typically runs 10-15 degrees celcius cooler when I'm beating on it... So I poured in the appropriate amount into the crossfire, and now it always hovers between 1/4 and 1/2 as long as I'm driving... In traffic, it still sits slightly above half until the fan kicks in. Then it drops down to half...
My 0.02
My 0.02
Mine is running hotter than normal to the line above the half way point when I am sitting in traffic.... and it is not even HOT here yet. The low level radiator light is back "ON" on the dash, yet the system is full.... anyone have any idea what I can do?? The system was recently flushed and the light went out for a few days, is back on again now, worry about it with summer coming on... stays at the half way mark of course going down the road.
It's possible that you haven't taken the card board out from in front of the Radiator. I know a member here who puts a piece of cardboard in front of his radiator during the winter to keep the engine warm. (one to many fan mods) He failed to take it out one sunny afternoon while we were cruising and got stranded
Seriously though, possibly a pump going bad? Others with more knowledge will probably add in their $0.02 I hope you figure it out soon though as it looks like it may be a warm one this summer.

I will check it in the morning after it has cooled completely down. Make sure also that they didn't overfill the system....
OK just checked the level in the Expansion Tank it is spot on.

When running the hose going from the radiator to the engine aught to be hot dam hot and tight with pressure. You should see the fan running at idle at that time. If the fan or thermostat are gonezo that would account for the problem. Your air bleed issues with the motor are not a concern at this late date. Let me know WOODY
