Winter Tires
Hello Everyone:
I just got my Crossfire and I am very pleased with it. With the weather we have in Ohio, I am going to need some winter tires. I contacted the parts department at my local Chrysler dealer, only to be told that there were no winter tires available for this vehicle. I took in the information I found that Continental tires were the tires sold as the optional ASP tires for the Crossfire, but I am getting nowhere.
I checked with Michelin, Goodyear, and Pirelli. The 18" front tires are not a problem, but the 19" do not seem to be available. I called Continental, and they said they do not make a 19" tire for this vehicle.
Does anyone have the actual part numbers, so I can try to purchase the tires myself?

Why not use cheap "non aluminium" wheels? So not tires alone but the complete with steel wheels.
This has some advantages: the original wheels stay clean no corrosion, if you hit somthing like a curb no damage to the expencive wheels, easy to swap no running to your dealer 2 times a year, you have more year's before you have to change the expencive Michelin pilot's, cheaper then finding winter tires 18" & 19", you have a real spare wheel in summer & winter times
down part: it is ugly compared to the original wheels.
Not what you asked but this is what I will do if I receive my X-fire

In Indiana, with excessive trips to northern Michigan. I have been tossing the same idea Neander put forward. If the weather is rotten, who cares what the tires look like as long as they get you (and the rest of the car) there in one piece.
Actually, I am waiting for the frist snow to really decide. I keep missing it in Michigan (melts by time I get the chance to go up there). Forcasting Snow here Monday. Keeping my figures crossed. I have a very long private drive. So, if we get it I'll have plenty of room to see how well it really gribs (stay tuned).
In the end, it can't be worse than 'performance' tires on a Trans-Am living in Michigan (absolutely no handling what-so-ever in snow, rain, someone spits on the street, etc,.). With how well this handles in the rain and through standing water (still amazes me) I don't expect any problems. Just toss some weight in the hatch (I recommend trippled garbage-baged rock-salt or kitty litter, a 50lb bag should be more than enough) and it will probably be fine if you are careful.

For sure there are 19" Continentals. They are on the back wheels of my Xfire! Can't tell you how they work on ice and snow as the car is garaged for the winter. We got a foot of the white stuff in less than 24 Hrs. on Weds. so the Jeep is getting a good workout while the toy sits in the warm garage.
FYI, Tire Rack lists the Continental ContiSport Contact 255/35 ZR-19's at $240 US.

The calculations to achief the same size as the original tire is a matter I leave to the tire center!

Check out pages 144-146 in the Owner's Manual. The recommended snow tire is a 225/40VR18 M+S. You need to get two more front rims for the rear, or buy a set of steel rims. Tire Rack has Dunlop Winter Sport M3's in this size for $157. They were rated best in the comparison on the web site.
