what should I look for when purchasing a NA crossfire
Looking at A 06 limited with 18500 miles 6 speed in pretty good shape for 13500, sound good? What should I look for? Especially during driving is there anything I should lookout for?
Check the bottom of the doors for water/rust around the seal. You will need to get down on your knees to check this is the only thing. Shifting into 2nd is a little stiff untill the tranny warms up a little. Oh, don't put any drinks into the cup holder, unless it's made of steel.
check both electric seat heaters, check of knocks in steering wheel, check upholder works, make sure CD player plays good, check the chrome bars below door handles or sharp edges that will cut you
Very reliable cars the XF. Take a look around the site and you will see there are some problems that do pop up as with any car. You won't "know" your car until you spend some quality time with it. Take it for a ride, have a mechanic check it out and if the car is clean, get it!
Post your location and maybe a local member can check it out for ya.
Good luck!

2nd gear should always be easy to engage. 1st gear lockout should prevent you from entering 1st gear at any speed above 8-10mph.
Look for an oil leak on both passenger & especially drivers side valve cover gasket. Most always shows up on the front end of the cover gasket. Also look up on top of the valve cover itself (front) for any leak around the oil catch cover gasket area.

Make sure the last oil change was Mobil1 0W-40 or equivalent. Non-Chrysler dealerships have a bad habit of using dinosaur oil. Make them change the oil and filter. Get the service records and find out if you are the second owner. I believe 3rd owner and up loses powertrain warranty. Find out when the original 36mo/36000 expires. Check every switch and option, every power accessory. Drive it a lot -- backroads and highway. Listen for squeaks or unusual noises. Brake hard at high speed in neutral and make sure it does not pull. Expect 1st to 2nd shift to be sticky until you discover the "groove".

I paid $23K for a brand new '07 6 spd Limited (did get the lifetime powertrain warranty included).... & I now have 31,000 miles on it...
Ave 26 mpg, have had it up to 131 mph, only problems so far were;
1. slightly out of allignment from factory....covered by warranty.
2. At about -5F & >100 mph....mass air flow sensor (or something like that) freaked out......reset itself after about 24 hours.
I would never dream of letting letting it go .....at any price!!!
Just keep the revs UP....between all up & down shifts!!! SWEET!!!!!
Also snagged an 08 auto-nav for only $17K....wife thinks it's hers.....
Thanks for all the help guys. I have noticed oil around the oil spout where you would pour it in, is this something I should worry about? I cant tell if its the gasket or just someone spilled oil while filling it? Car is in Bradenton, Florida

Brad, she's at work right now & Fred & Wilma are home with me.....if she wants to think it's her car.....OK!
I purchased it! what a fantastic car! It will need the valve cover gasket replaced as it is leaking, gonna try tightening it down before getting the work done.
