Chris:

The car had these pin stripes in the hood straifs when I purchased it. Original owner had them painted on. Sort of a mauve-color, nearest way to describe them. I'll see about pics and post in a few days.

Turns out my car was originally purchased from Lee's Summit CDJ. Had them get me a copy of original window sticker for my records. I thought I saw pics in your gallery that showed a rear plate frame from them also. How 'bout that!

What Danimal said - Mine does it after washing. I guess if we drove them after we washed them then the pad would have a chance to dry but when you put them away wet you get the rust.
Mine has done it since day one after I wash it, I put it back in the garage so its clean for the Sunday Cruise In I go to. I drive it to work most days and it doesn't pop, only when washed and put away, nothing to worry about.

My 6-speed pops after a car wash and overnight parking in a garage even when I don't set the parking brake. Quite disconcerting the first time. Now I have come to expect it.

Alabaster here and add me to list as well. I always thought and still do that black kinda gets stuck for sitting overnight or after a wash and while backing up, it breaks loose. it happens to me almost everytime (after an overnight sit here in the cold)
