Default NO GHOST In the Car - Auto Locking Doors

I am not trying to be rude or offend anyone but I figured I would start a new thread to explain this. I realized there are people that may not understand so I will explain. Honestly, I didn't understand this and the dealership had to explain it to me.

The car doors do not lock themselves so don't worry about locking your keys inside the car. The locking system of this car is very simple and smart.

Try doing this... get out of your car and close the door. Hit the lock button on the remote. Then unlock it with the remote but DON'T open the car door. Wait about 30-45 second and the car doors should lock back down on their own. It does this because the doors never opened. It made the decision to lock itself back down as a safety feature because it sensed the door never opened after you hit the unlock button. I heard there is a way to turn this feature off but never bothered to look it up.

The rule is very simple.... if you get out of the car and close the door without touching anything, the doors will remain unlocked.

Here is another thing to note. Try locking the car with the door open. The pin on the door will only go down halfway. The door may look locked but it isn't.

As I said... I am just passing what I have learned on. I was a fool and didn't understand that the car monitors the door for the central locking system. I thought there was a problem until the dealership explained how it works.

Also keep in mind, the battery in the remote could be low or the button could be jammed and that could cause interference and make the system do wacky things. I have seen that happen on many cars.

This car is very simple... yet complicated. I had this car more than 4 years and I am always learning something new.

A note about locking the car with the remote and the drivers door still open. If you close the door after doing this the drivers door will not lock. But if you open the door the alarm will sound.

Mine does lock. I usually l hit the lock button with either door and hatch open, then close the doors. Helps to just get out lock it then put the key away before I grab my stuff. I tested it and my 04 locks even with doors open

I've done this a few times. It usually happens early in the morning or late in evening when people are sleeping.

Mine is a 2005. I thought it was locking the doors with the door open but it wasn't. The pin was not going all the way down.

So, I just had to try locking the doors.
I locked the car with the door open, the latch went down a bit, then I shut the door and it did not lock. Upon opening the door the siren went on.
I repeated this and it happened again.
The third time I did it, the latch went down a bit and when I shut the door it went down fully. I repeated this a number of times and it always locked itself when I shut the door.

Christine is playing with my mind. My wife says I haven't been the same since I got her, she thinks Christine is doing it. If she gets dented I think they will come out on their own. The siren went on the other day while she sat in the garage, the battery is new this year and the keys were hanging up and I swear that she locks herself at times ( cue the eerie music) I gave up trying to figure it out. Gotta go she's calling, she wants a wash.

I am pretty sure thats what happens with mine. If u lock it while open it locks halfway, then when u close it, it goes all the way

The locking feature is programed using the fob.
See the Owners Manual for a play by play.
