Default Luggage arrives - I can understand the "WOW"

With apologies to our international friends, I must say this Crossfire luggage is simply outstanding and exceeds my expectations. Three pieces - a wheeled carry-on with expanding handle, a duffel bag and and a satchel. The carry-on is styled like the hood (bonnet) of the Crossfire and all three pieces have the Chrysler logo. The carry-on is a nicely constructed piece with a foldable attachment for suits, shirts and such, it has various zippered compartments, and a foldable attachment for suits, shirts etc. and - the wheels are like the Crossfires, a nice touch.
It's my guess that the luggage will be the first thing that Chrysler will chop from the "freebe" list next year, giving us first year buyers a little present. My wife mentioned, tongue in cheek, that it was worth getting the car just to get the luggage. So any lurkers on this forum that are sitting on the fence, a combination of recent good deals and the luggage should move you towards your local dealer.

I just got my luggage yesterday. 2 weeks to the day that I got the car. I also was very impressed with the quality as well as the looks of it. I know it's the most expensive free gift I ever got, but I still enjoy getting the stuff.

I too received my luggage 2 weeks after purchase. And, yes, it's nice. However, while I don't want to come across as looking a gift horse in the mouth, I would have preferred that the money spent on it had gone towards a better radio or a redesign of the cupholder or the repositioning of the cruise control. You get the idea. My luggage will stay in the box and be a nice benefit to the one that buys the car from me a couple of years from now. BTW: I fly 30-40 times a year; that luggage would be a mess after ten, or so, trips. Don't mean to sound so negativec justa thought or two.

I, personally am crazy about the luggage. I didn't even look at the cup holder and the radio (i think) is great. Once you get the new one with a display you can see. I bought a car.... Not a cafe' or a concert hall....

My comments reflect my use of the car, and the lack of any need for more luggage. They ARE nice piecesc I'm just curious about the marketing strategy behind them. It's certainly not a sales incentive as no salesman that I've found has even mentioned the spiff. Maybe it's just to show what a loving, warm and fuzzy company DB is.

I can't understand all the negative posts about the radio as mine is simply outstanding both in sound quality and ease of use. The display is complete and easy to use. I believe I have the later radio as I have a high serial numbered car, but I can understand the frustration of others that may have received the original radio, but DC has addressed that issue.

My radio (VINc1704) is very bad. I can read the display under only the most ideal conditions. Reception is even worse. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains (CA); not the most ideal reception areas. However, the radios in my Focus, Element and Dodge have no problem snagging AM or FM stations. Yesterday I had business in the "flatlands" (That would be San Jose). No better their. I'm still trying to decide whether to go the TSB-route, or upgrade to the Alpine that Gailwrath had installed. I've yet to read posts that have swayed me either way.

BTW: Don't let me mislead anyone into thinking that the luggage/radio issues have soured me on the car. I am VERY happy with it. Others I considered, in pref. order, were the Audi TT, Mazda RX8, andca distant thirdcthe New "Z". Each had strong merits but after thought I went with the X-Fire because 1) I won't experiencing the doppleganger effect, 2) I've a thing for rear drive 3) I admire Chrysler's design efforts (Had, though, the car been built in Detroit I would have gone the Audi route) and 4) the price was very right.

Reg. Radio reception still sucks, must be that nasty little antenna in the window. When I do get reception, it does sound better ( Alpine ).
And the MP3/WMA feature is the best part, been listening to the same
CD all week with no repeats

Thanx, Gail. Before I do anything I'm going to investigate the possibility of adding a "booster' of sorts. C.C.Radio Online) usually has something. At the same time XM radio bypasses the installed antenna; it's great but I'd miss a couple of local channels. In particular, KPIG.
BTW: The currently CHP-intensive 17c cramping your style any?

Naw, I keep my eye open for the CHP. The biggest issue commutting over the hill everyday is the traffic.....although today was quite nice, did about 70 except for those known CHP hangouts. It is sooooo easy to go fast in this car I will have to be very carfull

I did that run for about 5 yearsc never fun during commute hours. Now, I pick my times carefully and can really enjoy the road. I see that they've deplyed a couple of CHPs on bikes; a little trickier to find.
