Exclamation I'm worried

well my crossfire i just bought has 53k on it and i stopped at a light today and once i stopped my car started to jerk like it was going to die then light turned green and i pressed gas and all was fine for a mile up then got gas. My gas tank light was on but was only halfway if that in the red it was only on maybe 5-10 miles. Should i be worried about my car bcause i thought the light means you have 2 gallons of fuel left. has this happened to anyone?

That just may be where you are out of gas. See if the problem continues now that you have put more gas in.
If it's a BLACK crossfire yer screwed!

Wouldn't be a bad idea to change the fuel filter since you don't know if its been done.

If you're going to run it that low, pull the gas tank apart and clean it out first.

I filled up with shell gas and it happened again today. Stopped at a light and it started to shake like it was going to die but didn't. I don't know what to do. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?

Without knowing the car and with the little bit of info we have I would suggest checking for vacuum leaks, change fuel filter.

I test drove a Base Crossfire 5 years ago when I was looking to buy one. I was in the car with the salesperson and it started running rough and shaking. Almost like it was trying to stall but it didn't. He called me the next day to sell me the car... said it was fixed and it was just a vacum hose that fell off. Maybe that is what you problem is.

I never bought that car... I ended up buying from a different dealer.

Has the check engine light ever come on? I had a ML320 (same engine) do this with no check engine light at first and then it started dying when I came to a light. Eventually it would not re-start. It turned out to be the crank shaft position sensor. This sensor doesn't seem to just stop working all at once but rather go bad gradually. As mine started to go bad the check engine light finally started to come on but would clear itself after a few successful starts. Other possible causes are fuel filter. A vacum leak will also act just like this so pop your engine cover off and look all around. the oil filter is very easy to change. The big black plasic screw cap at the front of the engine is your filter housing. Just unscrew it and pop in a new filter while also replacing the various o rings. This is very easy to understand when you unscrew it.

I hope you get it to run better and you may even consider taking it to Autozone and have them scan it for free to check for any stored codes. Having the check engine light come on would be great as it would tell you the what is going on.

I use Speedway midrange and premium all the time and have no problems. You could have some bad gas or water in the tank from sitting. Add some gas line antifreeze and a bottle of gum-out. I have heard that a 1/2 quart of Seafoam in the gastank does wonders, but change the gas filter afterwards. Find a reputable garage who can change your oil and filter properly. Running the old filter (if it was new) with synthetic probably won't cause any problems because synthetic oil is 73% conventional oil anyway. But change both oil and filter next time. You may also want to change the air filters -- there are two, one on each side of the silver engine cover. The engine is the thingy in the front of the car.

Things I would check out in order....

Plug wires
Plugs
Clogged Injectors
Vacuum leak
Fuel Filter
Fuel Pump

If you are ruling out bad gas and it has trouble idling at a low RPM, it probably needs a tune up. Take it to a respected mechanic and have them look it over. I can tell you, I just changed my fuel filter (52k miles) and it was pure black coming out of it.

Yeah check all the vacuum lines , i was told that if the vacuum line that runs somewhere on the side of the motor,if has cracks it will defintely cause that motor to shake like that i took it in the conversation that i had with a mechanic that hose is commonly overlooked, happy boosting

I would check to make sure the engine cover is on properly. Could be that it's not sealed all the way down onto the throttle body.

I had something very similar happened to me this spring after taking the car out of winter storage. I assumed it was because the gas in my car was from last fall. I through a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner into the tank, and by the time I used up the gas it was fine. I do on occasion get the blinking low fuel light go on, but turning the car off, and restarting it takes care of that. It's only happen a couple of times.

This fall I'm adding some Sta-bil to my gas.

Then again, my Crossfire is black....

You can buy oils that are a synthetic and conventional oil blend. But synthetic oil is, for a lack of a better word .... synthetic.
