Dimming Mirrors
Has anyone had any luck with changing the side & rear view mirrors into
dimming mirrors? I can't handle brite headlites at night. The trick is to change the inner workings without changing the outside shape.
Perhaps tinting the windows might help too. any ideas?

I'm assuming you do know how to set the outside mirrors properly? I've never had an issue with the side mirrors-the rearview is another issue. can anyone tell my why a $40K modern car does not have an auto dimming rear mirror AND automatic headlights. Jeez, they sure went retro on the wrong parts in my opinion

Well, you can always use the day/night setting on the inside mirror but as we all know it's a pain in the butt so I never use mine. And yes, there are many times I get blinded too.

When I bought my roadster, I had the priviledge of filling out a new owner questionaire about the car. I bitched about the cheap rear view mirror and the crummy coffee holder. I guess they listened....they stopped building the car. :-) I don't drive it a lot at night and usually find the dimmer switch works ok, except for all the times that there is an SUV behind me. No way to avoid those headlights beaming right in over the trunk.
mine has the auto dimming mirror AND auto dimming side mirror!!
if you want the place that sells the interior mirror cheaper than the dealer i can get it for you
These headlights are getting so bright, none of us can see anymore!!!!!! I swear when a truck is behind me I absolutely cannot SEE!!!!! I have to deflect all my mirrors to be able to see the ROAD!
If your side mirrors are adjusted properly you will not get any light in your eyes from vehicles behind you from the side mirrors. You have a rear view mirror for vehicles behind you, the side mirrors are for looking at what is beside you and behind you in the other lane.
If you can see your own car in your side mirrors they are not set correctly. If you want to look at you car stop and look at it from outside the car.
With the mirrors set correctly you do not have to even turn your head. This does take a bit of getting used to, once you are confident with it you can keep your eyes on the road ahead more of the time, with just a quick glance at the mirrors.
