Question New Brakes Help

Ok my brake indicator light came on about a month ago but then went off again and didnt come on again until today. It is staying on. I am going to go to the chrysler dealership tomorrow since they are not open today. My question is do the Chrysler dealerships keep the brake pads that will fit on the Crossfire? When i got new tires they didn't have any that would fit the car in stock, they had to order them. This is my first car so i don't know, do dealerships keep the brake pads in stock?

Thanks

I don't know the answer, but I am curious how many miles are on your odometer....always been curious how long the pads might last on average before the brake wear indicator might light up...

Go to www.Brakeworld.com and order your pads... I just put pads on the front of my 04, I went with the ceramic one... call Disc Italia... so far happy with them, no noise, haven't noticed any break dust either!!!!

They do not come with new sensors you will have to order those from the dealer, I did not put new sensors on mine as I only had 29,000 miles on my car and the brakes were still good, changed them to get rid of all that dust!

If you have been driving for a month with the brake indicator on, I would be concerned about the condition of my rotors! The dealer should be able to get brakes from a parts store if they dont have them in stock. Or you can take the pads you want with you as 'Corky' mentioned.

My mechanic had no problem with me bringing the pads, not sure what you can do about the sensor, I was told it is a dealer only part.. ?

I did mine last week was very suprised to find out you could get the pads from autozone. You can get ceramics or semi metalic. And the sensors you can them
from a Benz dealership about 15 bucks for two just ask for slk320 sensors. So far so good I got the semi metalics no sqeek and even low brake dust.

So the dealership didn't have them in stock?

Mine had 53,000 miles on, as far as I know, the first set of brake pads, since I bought it used

Dealers stock parts that they use a lot. Does not apply to Crossfires since they are few and far between and many owners do their own work. I would avoid stock pads and go with a good low-dust replacement -- Rotex gold (v popular) or Disc Italias (I have on my SRT6 and like). If the front brake wear indicator came on a month ago and then went off, it could have been a misreading. The fact that it is on hard now means it is time to replace the pads. You probably have a couple thousand miles remaining since the sensor is designed to warn of LOW pad, not NO pad. For the record, I'm at 34k and brake pads look real good, but the car has 60% highway driving as is an MT6.
