Default vibration

The type of vibration you expect when there is a flat spot on a tire...thump,thump,thump. You feel it through the body of the car and the steering wheel.

3-4 miles later ...no vibration.

Something tells me this is going to take some time to figure out

I have been given the same run around by the dealer telling me that it is normal for these type of tires. I notice it between 30-40 mph when coasting. It has never gotten as bad as what some of these posts are saying, but it is definately enough to get your attention... If anyone knows of a definite fix to this I would be interested to hear about it. It hasn't been doing it too bad lately, but it is interesting to know that other people are experiencing the same thing...

Has the car been sitting in one spot for awhile? If the answer is yes, the tires are experiencing a temporary flat spot, more common to occur during the cooler weather. You drive for the first half hour with a thumping and eventually they completely round out to their normal self. Only speculation but I've experienced it in other cars with very low profile tires, stiffer suspensions.

Nope...I drive it everyday. Granted it is cold in the morning when I am starting out, but the tires get regular thermal cycling and regular use...

I was just noticing your sig...Full dual exhaust??? NICE!!

My crossfire shakes too. Chapman Chrysler said it was normal. The big problem i have with my car is the windows never line up.

Guess what guys. I have the same problem with vibration in steering wheel on start up until driven about 15 min.. Then it goes away completly. I have had 3 sets of tires on the car including the original set and also replaced front wheel bearings, races and the steering dampner. No play in the steering linkage. The car only has 6000 miles on it. I too am puzzled. Any and all suggestions.

Sorry about this P.S. But I forgot to mention that all tires that were replaced were Continental tires.

One thing about bringing up an old thread, all these old members appear that I've never seen before!

Sorry ablut bringing up a old thread but I never had a car with low profile tires before. The tire dealer has been very cooperative and feels that it shouldn't have that problem. Anyway it seems that some of you have had the same problem. If it is the nature of the beast then "SO BE IT." Thanks for your response.

I am getting a vibration at about 40 to 50 when accelerating, I bought the car with a replaced clutch. I have a feeling a trans mount may be to blame.

What you are saying is not fact based, meaning, it's not true. There is no "works like every other ABS out there", no ABS system works like that, none.
The only way you can lock up the wheels on a Crossfire is with the hand brake which would do only the rear. You could lock up all 4 if you jammed on the brakes as hard as you possibly could then turn the ignition key "off". On some paved surfaces it might even be tough to lock up all 4, try it on dirt or snow. You could also pull the fusible link under the hood to disable the ABS and ESP and traction control. Try one of those two because that's the only way it will happen.
