Had to be in L.A. Sat morn on biz. Left my Santa Cruz home at 2:30 p.m., Friday. Route; 17-101-46-5. I travel this route numerous times a year, so am quite familiar with it. As travel "partners" I had the new Alpine with XM feature, and my trusty Valentine 1. Speed ranged as high as 115mph (on 5) with a lot of miles above 90. The radar detector worked as it should. The car is as rock steady at speed, and very comfortable to drive. The return trip was mostly at night. with the same higher speeds; except on 46c one of the more dangerous night driving roads. Outside of King City kept getting very short bursts of radar. Brought it down to legal andcsure enoughcfound the tricky guy hiding. Gots to be careful about the CHiPs who turn it on and off.

Even in jaded L.A. the car received all the admiring looks. Gas mileage was low as expected 17-18mpg. Normally I get an easy 24-26.

Fastest car trip I've ever made to La-La land. I avoid the challege/race thing, but continually had cars try to engage me.
