Got my new radio installed today and on the way home it beeped very loud and then again about 10/15 min later. It sounds like when you set your station buttons, anybody else have this happen? (It scares the crap out of you when it happens)

#2815 has had all kind of noises, but the radio isn't one of them.

I took a look at your album. I really like your chrome wheels!!! One question... did CA change the law on tinted windows? On my last trip to LA a CHIP stopped me and gave me a warning ticket for my windows.

Funny, my original radio beeped like that, but I thought it was one of the functions of the radio that I was too lazy to read about (what is TP anyway?). But now that I think about it, my new radio (swapped out the washed out display for the new one) doesn't beep like that anymore. But I also didn't play with all the buttons on the new one...just tuned it to my fave station and mostly play CDs.

 

I believe the radio (original) beeps and displays TP to indicate Tire Pressure. Don't know that for a fact, but check to see if your Tire Pressure warning symbols is also displayed.

 

No, the TP stands for "Traffic Program". I think it is used mostly in the UK, but if you press it, it will automatically find any stations broadcasting traffic information.

 

The TP button on my radio stands for "Temporary Pause". It is a mute button to pause the radio or CD. I use it all the time when I need to answer a cell phone call. It also backs up the CD a few seconds, so you start back just where you left off.

I have never seen my radio display anything about tire pressure or traffic information.

Or am I missing something in this thread?

jsisabella.... You're absolutely correct. It's the "Mute" button (TP = Temporary Pause).

TP is Traffic Program in the UK. when TP is enabled ie shown on the display on the radio whenever there is a traffic annnoucement on any radio stations you are within range of the radio automatically switches to that station, if the CD player is playing then is pauses it, when the announcement is finished the radio goes back to the original station/CD track and carries on playing. Some high end radio's record this information whilst you are out of you car so you can replay them just as you get back into it.
Its a fairly cool feature, but i always have it disabled as it always seems to activate at the best part of your favourite song. 8)

 

I'm still too lazy to look in the book but I notice that Bob and I are both in Southern California...maybe we have a Traffic Program here that some other states don't?

 

TP stands for Traffid Program but is explained in the book as the Mute button, which it is when there is no traffic radio station in the vicinity such as near airports, etc. That feature is more prevalent in Europe and the UK but it's also available in some states in the US.

It certainly is NOT Tire Pressure, for which there is an idiot light on the instrument panel.
