We are not the only ones that had this problem, but seems like it might be a 2007 base problem. Most members have Limited models with silver surrounds so they dont know. All there problems are with power seats, heated seats and cup holders, which we know nothing about.
Ask Mike-in-Orange what he thinks. He works for Meguiars.

I know this thread is old and dead (that rhymed), but I wanted to thank joejet for this post. Went out and bought what he recommended recently, used it on a lot of my paint blemishes and scratches and compared to the Turtle Wax, it dominated them. Used it on the shroud too, and in a week or so, we'll see how much better it does than the TW. The shroud kept going back to what it was like before after a week or so and a wash or two with the TW.

Glad I was able to help. You probably already did but make sure to put a coat of wax on it. I waxed mine last week and didn't to do anything special to the surround. Its been almost a year. Meguairs scratchX rules.

I did report this on another thread, but I wanted to tell everyone with a 2007 base black coupe that I brought my car to the dealership, explained the problem with the windshield surround, showed it to them, and they are ordering me new ones under warranty. Just thought you should know, if your car is still under warranty, they may cover it! I'll let you know when the parts come in, and the end result. Thanks to all who pointed out the problem, and possible solutions.
