I told him I would be working accident after accident....well, the community to the south of us, heeded the engineers advice, and roundabouts started replacing intersection after intersection, and I was wrong...traffic moves, not really that many accidents after everyone got used to them...so they are the norm around the north side of Indy now.

But as I was just about through the intersection, I saw white flashes in my rear view mirrors. I was not alone going through the intersection so I can't say for sure that the camera captured me. Either way, stopping on the slippery street would have been more hazardous than going through the intersection.
That said, I can't believe nobody has mentioned that chemical that you can spray on your license plate that can't be detected by the human eye but stops the camera from reading your license number. I know it's been talked about before on this forum but I can't find the thread(s).

Didn't mythbusters do an episode on that license plate stuff? I think they found that all of it was pretty much junk, and the camera got it all anyway.
Of course, you never know with stuff like that. I can't imagine some people higher up being happy about a frequently watched tv show advertising a product that can beat traffic cameras....

Will the ticketing officer, IE, the camera be there as a witness to testify that there weren't circumstances to the light being ran? Camera's capture a moment in time, nothing else.

This would force everyone to pay attention and deal with making their way through traffic. As an example he referred to what you see in some of those very old clips from the early 1900's - cars making their way through an intersection with no traffic lights. Is a jumbled mess, but everyone gets through and traffic continues to flow.
Of course, one problem we have in the US is people illegally running green lights. As we all learned and know, it is only legal to proceed through a green light if the intersection is clear and it is safe to do so. If someone is running the red light, legally, you cannot proceed through your green light as it is unsafe to do so.
Watch motorcyclists - many of us check both ways when proceeding through any intersection, no matter what color the light is. People in cars and trucks don't ever seem to have that level of awareness.
