Junk Yard "Core Charge"
Is the "Core Charge" for and engine before or after the initial price. Like say I go on car-part.com for an engine and the price is 1200. The description says 500 core charge. Does that mean I have to pay 1700 or is it 1200 and then 700 if you give them the old one? Can somebody look in to that for me, I asked my Dad, but I cannot trust him for true info because he has been dead against an engine swap since the getgo. He thinks Crossfires are garbage. He should be burned at the steak for blasphemy.
Mike is correct. You will be charged $1700, then you will get $500 credit/refund when you return the core. Here in OH, you get taxed on the core, but no tax credit when you return it.

I won't speak for you dad but mine would say, if you don't like your car as it is, sell it and get what full fills your dreams. In the end you will spend more money and time changing the car you have, than if you buy something else. My dad would also worry about service, support, parts etc. When you have a one of a kind car you have one of a kind problems.
Of course I put all kinds of money in my straight six at the time, looking back it would have been cheaper and I would have ended up with a better running and driving car if I followed his advice. But I learned a lot and don't really regret it.
But thats my dad. Good luck if you decide to follow the dream.
