Default Hopefully buying my first 2008 Crossfire Ltd Convertible

Hi everyone,
I have had my eye on this car since last fall and I am in love with it. I am taking it on a test drive Saturday and a test drive for a Nissan 350Z Touring Convertible (my son likes the Nissan).
Is there anything special that I should look for in a test drive?
The car is fully loaded and I must admit an automatic.

It is a 2008 with 33,948 km for 32,000.00.
Does anyone know the going price for that year? I also live in Ontario Canada.

Thanks for any advice.

Have fun with your test drive! The mileage for that year seems a little high unless it was driven daily. And, as for the price, that seems a little high, also. Although you could find a car with lower mileage and a lower price, it would be a little older. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-Crossfire-SRT-6-Contact-Tim-OBrien-419-206-8718-Certified-SRT6-Clean_W0QQitemZ140397678731QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_C ars_Trucks?hash=item20b05a908b

There are some good cars for sale on this Forum regularly.

Happy hunting!

I'm assuming you're talking CAD.. 32,000CAD is about 32,000 USD (thanks exchange rates!!)

That's a RIDICULOUS price to pay, esp with that mileage..

Do you have to have a 2008?? By the way.. if it's a limited, it pretty much is "fully" loaded... there aren't many options for this car.. (2-tone interior, GPS thats worthless, and all season tires)

I would look into getting an SRT-6 convertible, should be able to find one a hell of a lot cheaper then 32,000!

Here's one with a bit more miles, but half the price!! A couple although..

2005 Chrysler Crossfire, SRT 6, Clean and Fast!

honestly, if I went back, I'd buy a 350z.

Parts are cheaper.. and available readily. If you have an accident in one of these cars be prepared for a lengthy wait for any parts you need from the dealer.
More aftermarket support as well (something I normally look at when buying a car)

Yeah that price is really high. There is nothing wrong with an automatic especially since it has autostick. The 350Z is a cool car but expect high insurance costs. I don't know how insurance goes in Canada but I looked into buying one that was a 2006 and I got quoted 170 dollars a month with no accidents or tickets and I'm 20 years old. So the 350Z was not an option for me as of right now. Reason for the high costs in insurance is because a lot of younger people like myself like these kinds of cars and tend to wreck them a lot. It's a very fast car though. Will beat a Crossfire off the line anyways. It all depends what your looking for in a car. The Crossfire will turn a lot of heads and girls/woman love this car

There is a local dealer that has a number of Crossfires . His asking prices tend to be in line with what you are seeing. For example:
05 Convertible $24,998 16,818 Km
08 Convertible $31,495 No KM given

The dealers in Canada still seem to feel that they can get top $ for Crossfires which seems to be at odds with the situation in the US.
As you are in Ont you might think about bringing a unit up from the US. While the number of people doing this have decreased it is still something to look into on a unit like the Crossfire / Boxter etc.

Good idea other than the fact that the local dealer has had 16 crossfires since 2008 and has only sold 3 of them.. " Us Canadians may be slow but we shure ant dumm"

Well maybe there are 3 "dumm" ones!!

I was going to say........ At those prices, there are at least 3 dumb ones. LOL

We could buy some and sell them for damn near half price, and still make some money. It was all in jest anyway.

NO!
Too much, thats using the list price and using a low depreciation factor. These cars were a tough sell at list and are still a tough sell now.
Canadian dealers are living in a dream world. With the dollar at par I would suggest buying one from the States and importing it, you would save at least $10,000 and probably more.

Same with me, Pizza Guy, I thought I got took after paying 15,000 for my limited with 6,800.
Dont feel so bad now, I got a nearly brand new car for allot less the 30,000, which is what I would have to pay for a new one. I cant think of any new car right now, costing 30,000 that would be as fun to drive as my crossfire with a six speed

Hi to all those that responded to my question.

They are much higher up here obviously. There is the exact same car at another dealer about 1 1/2 hours from here, near Toronto.
That car is same year with 16, 200 km and they are asking 29,000 for it.
I am also test driving a 2004 Nissan 350 Z Roadster Convertible tommorrow at the urging of my son. This will scare you, it has 36, 000 km and they want 25,000 for it. I am told that Nissan holds it's price.

Any other help would be of great interest.

Thanks in advance and for taking the time to reply.

Yikes. That is insanely expensive. I would give serious consideration to the already suggestested importing of an XF from the United States. It HAS to be a better deal for your wallet.

How far are you from Monroe Michigan? Check out the post in this forum under SRT and look at the 05 SRT with 917 miles on it for around 20,000.

Hi, MBR -----
Hopefully you have been keeping an eye on this Forum since last Fall, also, and know that the information shared here can be very straightforward and helpful.

If you have not been long on the Forum, we are a very straightforward and helpful group of folks who love the XF in its beauty and potential. Unless there are laws preventing you from importing from the U.S., it seems like you might be able to save several thousands of dollars from a 'South of the Border' purchase.

We have a good number of Forum folks from the provinces and they may be able to provide you with good references. It's challenging to make an XF decision, auto/stick, NA/SRT, coupe/roadster, color?..... so many decisions!

We are here to help and maintain the integrity of the XF. Have fun during your search - life is too short!

Hi everyone,

Yes I am crazy and I know that you all said that I could get money off doing the states thing; however, I had a boss years ago that did that with many vehicles and never got what he thought he was going to get.
I am a touchy feely sort of broad.
Let me touch it and I will know.
It was a tough decision day today. I spent 3 1/2 hours testing 2 convertibles. I started at 9:30 with beautiful sun shining and it was 2C!
So, when I arrived at the dealership, he said take in now for as long as you want, then come back in the afternoon if it is warmer and we will put the top down. I laughed and said, the sun is shining, the seats are heated, what more could you want ................. down with the top. He laughed and said my type of woman.
9:30 in the morning, top down, sun shining and 2 degrees (C) .............. life can not be any better.
Hate to tell you that it was the Nissan 350Z touring convertible at that time of day. Mind blower. Handled, moved, and much more ......... one of the best parts that I was never even chilled. Between the 2 roll over bars there was a piece of glass or plexi that was about 10 inches high to deflect the wind and it did it so well ................ Never even chilled.
Took the 2008 Crossfire Limited Convertible at 12:30 and was cold the whole time. The wind came inside the vehicle from everywhere it seemed with the top down.My thought is that there must be a way to do the same thing with this car and I sure hope so ................. because I bought the 2008 Crossfire Limited Edition Convertible ...............
Loved both of them for different reasons, but my man looks great in blue and he really loved it! Let's face it, by myself driving the Nissan with Bose radio system cranked as I did today going down the highway it was as if I was part of the car and road; but, the look on his face driving the Crossfire was what did it for me.
Happy early birthday present babe, because men do the driving when we woman are present and he deserves it.

Congratulations on the purchase. Do you need another boyfriend? LOL Just kidding. Anyway, with the plexiglass wind deflector, you can get a beautiful laser etched illuminated one from WindRestrictor. I have one on my roadster, and love it.

Here is a picture of mine. It lights up blue at night.
