The first time I didn't mind getting a ticket
Well, got a speeding ticket today. The cop was a nice guy. I knew I was in the wrong and was completely respectful about it. What caught me off gaurd was that he was too! For once it was nice to be pulled over by a normal guy instead of some ego tripping ***. I would like to think that the majority of police are great people this is just the first time I experienced it first hand while getting a citation.

I sue cops for a living (and it's a pretty tough living). Comparing with my personal experiences, I am regularly amazed by the stuff I see on "Cops" or YouTube. Over thirty-five years I have probably been pulled over 40 times, and received no less than thirty warnings or otherwise ended up just driving away. So far as traffic stops are concerned, the courtesy and professionalism of the constabulary has been relatively unimpeachable. This does not, however, compare well with my expriences of police in an investigatory capacity. In all cases they were as nice or nicer than could be expected. Kudos to the traffic cops.
The "crap-shoot" nature of the whole circmstance is curious, however. I've received a warning at 113 on I-40 in AZ, but a ticket for 6 over in Neb. on an empty I-80.
There's also one issue that does fry me. I've been pulled over twice for what was obviously no more than a desire to check out the car I was driving (once in my Sunbeam Tiger and once in, of all things, my Fiero (I had the first black one released to the public and this was on its second day on the road). While I took this in stride, these guys with their training must recognize that that is an illegal and unconstitutional seizure. If you want to check out my car, follow me 'til I stop at a Taco Bell, or flag me nicely from a window. The reds and blues bespeak something much more oppressive than "cool car."

I drive 100+ miles per day in another car. As soon as I get in the Crossfire I get pulled over (in the San Antonio area). My car is a cop magnet. I only got 2 speeding tickets in my life and both were 11-12 MPH over the limit on the interstate (a 65MPH zone). I also got pulled over for 9 over the limit but didn't get a ticket. The DPS guy was nice. As soon as I told him I lived down the street he let me go (he probably thought I was an out of towner).

Doc, I think we went to the same school, my feelings as well, and I to have been thanked for the professional way I have treated someone whos actions have required me to do my job, whatever thqt may be. It is nice to here when a LEO has acted in a professional manor....VEGASLEGAL,,, If I understand corectly you were stopped becouse you think a cop wanted to see your Pontiac, and your Maxwell Smart car???? Really

Yeah, really. That's the point. In both instances all they asked about was the car. In the Sunbeam they (there were two) had spotted the stock "V8" badge, and actually wanted to look under the hood. I let them. In the
Fiero, there was never a mention about any traffic violation, and the first question was "Do you work for Pontiac?" followed by, "Is this some prototype?" Not an uncommon site in Detroit where this occurred, and if you think back, the Fiero was only released in Red and White for the first four months, and the black did make it look like a different car. I agree, though, that it was not 'special.' I also had this happen while a passenger in a friend's bright red, black striped '69 Camaro SS convertable. Cops even said, 'Sweet ride. We just wanted to check it out.'

I have had fairly bad luck with Texas cops. They seem to not like giving warnings for anything. I got pulled over doing 8 miles over the limit on a side road one night. I was very polite, to the point the cop was laughing and joking with me. I got the ticket. The very next night my wife gets pulled over at the exact same spot on the road. She was doing 25 over the limit. It was the same cop. She gets a warning.
I called the city and told them either they were going to give her a ticket for it, or I was not paying mine either. I paid, she walked.

Vegaslegal; I never said that your Fiero wasn't special, as a matter of fact They were very unique cars, and as I recall they made great torches
in any color. The sunbeam Tiger a Great car,

your jammer doesn't work btw, you've just been lucky...we messed with those things in training...that's why I always like my ancient VASCAR unit...no detectors or jammers are going to work...lol

radardetector.net, look at 'guys of lidar' test, real world test with VARIOUS laser jammers and laser guns (yes, even the same ones LEO's use)..
Not all of them work effectively, or at all, but some work EXTREMELY well.
Radar jammers however DO NOT work (well, they theoretically could but highly illegal to make/sell/use since the FCC owns the spectrum)

Ask the local cop I passed doing 90 in a 65, he hit me with lidar, and nothing.
The new units dont jam it long enough for the unit to bring up the "jammed" screen
10 seconds then they cut off, as to not to raise suspicion on the officers end.
the old ones didnt work at all

In Indiana, that is more illegal than the infraction you are about to recieve...you will be stopped for the initial contact, and cited...and have the immediate area of the driver searched...most LEO don't pay much attn...because they take the easy ones, but in rural situations, we can be more particular...It doesn't matter to me whether you believe or not..but, be careful thinking you are invisable...nothing on the market today makes you invisable....
