10 seconds then they cut off, as to not to raise suspicion on the officers end.

the old ones didnt work at all
Do you have that company's name or web site...like I said, I don't like the lidar...at all...too tricky to use...you have to aim it like a gun the signal is so tight...still like the old fashioned VASCAR, and it is coming back...just because of the technology....just be careful out there, because if you ever did that to me....I would have stopped you for unreasable speed...and cited you anyway...remember most LEO's have to be trained to visually estimate your speed within 5 mph...don't need any device for that...at least in this state...it's up to the judge then...I like to drive fast as well, but I pick and choose the areas to do it in...so, like I said, just do it responsibly even though that sounds bad....lonely roads yes, busy interstates, congested traffic...not a good idea...

Folks, I was a cop and retired after 27 years. I was a Detective for 25 of those years. However, when on patrol I stopped my share of vehicles and only a handful of times was someone so deserving that I knew I would pen a ticket no mater what they had to say. The bottom line was I did not want to issue a ticket just because I stopped a violator. I would observe their demeanor, attitude and reaction to being stopped. On many occasion I would ask them to tell me their best joke and advised that if they made me laugh they would not receive a ticket. Certainly, no mater how funny, I would not laugh and of course return to my car and start writing. I would return to the violator and hand him a written warning for the violation and state, "the jokes on you, drive safely". I received so many letters to the Chief of Police advising what a great officer I was and fortunately my Chief was the type of guy that wanted the public to appreciate the efforts of law enforcement officials. Yes, things have changed somewhat and you may come across the guy who is writing a ticket no matter what. Roll with the punches and hope the next time your stopped its a 'normal' COP.

I like your thinking....got thanked a lot times as well....but have also rolled up on youngster's wrapped around trees and light poles...just like you and me at their age, we thought we were invinceable...90 in a 60 right by me...sorry, that wouldn't fly....but, for normal stops, very seldom wrote a citation if their demeanor was good...most stops were for inattention...they just weren't watching their speed...never wanted the detectives job....I always liked the road, accident reconstruction, EVOC training...etc...you had the long boring hours...lol....I liked handing over the case when necessary...thanks for your yrs of service btw...hopefully mine will be done soon...

Hang in there man. Retirement is as good as you make it and you sound like you will make it good.
Best wishes and stay safe.
