Vegas! What should we drive?
My wife and I are headed to Las Vegas tomorrow for a weekend of fun. I am trying to figure out what car to take. We have two options: "Chuck" the SRT6 or "Jax" the '09 Dodge Journey, wife's car. Actually three options but the 4ruuner has larger mud terrain for 'wheelin so not really for road trips.
Positives about Chuck:..... Its an SRT6! Negatives: might get a ticket as I did my last road trip to San Diego, wife does not like driving it... actually that may be a positive
, like to valet in Vegas so a little worried about that, car will get very dirty.
Positives with Jax, wife will drive so I can relax if I want, comfortable, better GPS, not worried about valet dweebs. Negatives: kind of boring
Opinions?

I visit Vegas every year, and there is no way I would want to have my SRT6 out there. The roads are full of gawking foreign tourists who can't drive, old people, and cab drivers who drive like maniacs, and the parking lots and ramps are far from secure. I'd be a nervous wreck and wouldn't be able to enjoy myself, so I'll just stick with using rental cars.
Take the 4Runner and spend an afternoon doing the BLM non-maintained road from Goodsprings to the backside of Mount Potosi. Some really spectacular rocks and scenes (vistas, open deserts, mountains). Just about 1 1/2 hours of driving if you go straight through, but there are plenty of side trips trails. It won't ruin your truck either, although you'll have a couple of 'oh crap, why am I driving here' moments. I've even done it in a mini-van, but I wouldn't recommend that.
As for driving in Vegas, no different than any other city, better than LA, St. Louis, or Detroit.

Not sure what you should drive to get there but after you get there you should drive one of those one arm bandits...kind of expensive but still a rush......enjoy your Holiday
Take the soccer mom van (Jax) for a more comfortable ride to get there and back. 'Cause once you're there, driving is not necessary if you are staying on the strip.
Have a great time and leave lots of money in Vegas for me to come get!
