The Devil made me do it!
Beautiful evening in Santa Cruz, so my wife and I went downtown for dinner last night. The area is a nicely restored (after the quake of '89) street of restaurants and funky shops populated by all the typical denizens of Santa Cruz. Waiting for a friend to join us we were seated outside the restaurant, across the street from my black Crossfire… a lot of people strolling back and forth on both sides. As usual, the XF garnered attention. I've removed the trunk lid XF name, so many have no clue as to what the car is.
Anyway… watching the people examine my car, and with the keys in hand… every time someone would lean in close, I'd depress the "Lock" button, flashing the lights three times. If they go real close I'd punch the "Panic" button on and off. One guy, thinking he had it figured out, would move in[ove out "testing" the system. I'm sure he was quite impressed with the proximity alarm system. Another person had the temerity to touch the car! pushed "Lock" and "Panic." Because of the crowd, no one knew I was doing this. Great fun, but I had to stop when my wife told me I was being "mean."

GW… We were sitting in front of Kianti's (a great new restaurant, by the way). And you're right about some of those folks. I think some assumed they were being contacted by alien forces with the XF being a teleportation device.
Kianti's is very yummy. Wish I had been there to watch the floor show as well! So Reg, which dealer did you get your XF from? I am currently talking with a dealer in Redwood City. I was captured by the coupe but have decided to wait to actually by until the roadster comes out. I live on "the other side of the hill" but am in the Santa Cruz area visiting my brother and friends often.

rabbit… I bought from North Pacific in SC; I do not recommend them; it was not a pleasant experience.
Coupe or roadster… that's a hard one. However, if the roadster had been available in Dec when I purchased, I'd have still bought the coupe. This, because o me he essence of the XF design is with its boat tail. That "signature" elevates it from the crowd. The roadster is a beauty, but for my tastes it edges towards the generic. I also like the closed in feeling of the coupe. But I will say, after our recent weather a blast up/down Hwy 1 one in a roadster would be too cool… but then, guess that's why I have motorcycles.

I agree with Reg...it's unfortunate that the boattail disappears in the convertible and I feel it truly loses the essence of what this car was designed to be. I also like feeling of being surrounded and protected in a coupe, plus, convertibles mess up my beautiful hair that takes me hours and hours and hours to make all pretty. And I'm a guy!!!
I'm off to the copyright office to copyright it and going to try to get it registered as Chrysler's new marketing slogan for the car. Maybe one day I'll post the hilarious picture of me pretending to hump my crossfire the day after I got, done as a joke, of course. Um....ya....nevermind.
So I'm gathering from what you all say is.....
Dump the tall boyfriend, get the Coupe that I fell in love with and then heck, with a hot car like the Xfire Coupe I should be able to get a newer, shorter version of the boyfriend. Hmmmmm......
BTW, you know I'm teasing. Really I am.
