tire bubble again
i know we mentioned this problem before. i had a bubble on my front tire. the dealership did replace the tire for me. looks like the bubble is back in the same spot as before. my rim is a little scraped up were the bubble is. could the rim be bent from scraping a curb? how unsafe is it to be driving like this? think theres any shot of getting it replaced by the dealership again? :? :? :?
Worth a shot huh? The thing about warranty is that Chrysler reimburses the dealer for doing the work - in most cases, the dealer does not incur any cost. So you can understand that dealers are usually more than happy to do the work, since Chrysler pays them for the labor. In some instances, Chrysler will want the part, in this instance a tire, before they issue a ruling on whether or not warranty will cover it. But in most instances, the dealer will just use a computer program to report the problem, they get the OK right away.. and the item will be replaced - the damaged item then sits on a dealer shelf somewhere for 6 months. The ideal situation would be to get you a new one at no charge, before sending the old one back - then if Chrysler rejects the claim, only then is the dealer liable for the cost.

As described in another thread, I just went through the bubble problem and wound up having Michelin replace the tire for free.
But it wasn't easy. My Chrysler dealer who has in all other respects truly lived up to a 5 Star rating, pointed out that the tire is not covered under a Chrysler warranty but strictly needs to be dealt with by Michelin.
I wouldn't be surprised if this time around your Chrysler dealer invites you to take the tire problem directly to Michelin yourself this time. The Michelin dealers are told to take the tire off the rim and inspect for interior bruising or other sign of road hazard. If they declare road hazard, anything can happen. Michelin MAY decide to give you something, but you probably won't wind up with a replacement.
Mine was determined to not be road hazard, so I get a new tire.
I'd suggest everyone keep an eye on their tires, this bubbling MAY turn out to be a problem with the S2...

Interesting the things I read about other dealers.
OK.. DC dealers ARE authorized Michelin retailers... WARRANTY claims and all. Any competent (hmmm) dealer that partakes of the Chrysler sponsered tire program can and SHOULD warranty any Michelin/Goodyear/Continental (and several others) tire. I have gone though the process of doing this, and as a dealer we do not under any circumstance allow one of hard earned customers to leave our shop for some trained monkey to work on at a tire store!
The tires we install are ordered directly from Chrysler for in stock tires, and ordered through a national price plan from Goodyear or Tire Kingdom for all others. We handle the warranty for road hazards/defects/mileage claims in house.
Sometimes I read the posts here and wonder... Is this why we have a bad reputation in this industry? Is my dealership that I work for really this much better than so many others? On one hand, its sad the industry as a whole hasn't caught on. On the other hand, it makes me proud to work where I do.

Jamikest,
After thinking over what you said, it makes 100% sense. If they sell Michelin tires... they are a dealer and should honor any warranty issues. At least I would think so. I'll definitely press-to-test the issue should it ever arise. My dealer bills itself as an "authorized" Michelin Dealer.
Thanks for bring that up...

Tyre bubbles are normally always caused by you driving over a big pot-hole in the road. This "pinches" the tyre and causes it to bulge in that spot. I've had this on a previous car. Just watch what you are driving over and try to avoid pot-holes in the future!
