Default Rock Chips

Hi Everyone,
I have a 08 Limited, and I drive it daily. I understand that if I drive it it's going to get chips but it's getting out of control. How do you guys handle this? Are there detailers that can properly clean these up?
Thanks for the advice.
Chris

You know it seems this car gets more chips on the front bumper and windshield of any car I have owned. The windshield is really bad for a car with only 39K on it.

If it is a DD, drive it and don't worry about it. In a few years, have a good Body Shop repaint it like new again. I was about to have mine repainted but bought a new bumper also. The drive to St. Louis took the newness away from it. I'm not into the bumper covers so I live with it.

I just sold a 04 with 58k on her and the windshield was bad for the miles. I bought it with 41k on the clock and thought that 1st owner lived on a bad or gravel road with construction. But maybe not----bad/ soft glass?

not sure what causes it. the car was like that when i bought it. thought it was tree sap or something for the longest time and i could never get it off until i inspected closer and noticed it was actually chips in the window. not very noticeable on my car unless you really get close up on it and look. doesn't bother me when driving either.

On the black they are especially noticeable (for some reason they used white primer on a black car )

As mine is a DD as well and I am still waiting on an SRT front end, I had a detail shop go over it and fill every one of the holes with touch-up and then buff and polish the entire area, it looks MUCH better but in certain light, they still stick out like crazy (to me at least)....

So get the chips fixed and get a clear bra. I keep my Chrysler bra behind my seat and use it when I'm going on the highway. This has worked for me KOW, 5 years, no chips. It's pretty simple, you either live with the chips or put a bra on it. There is no way to "detail out" a rock chip that I know of.

Have have had several cars and the XF is without a doubt the all-time worst for front end chips. I dont know what it is. 9xs out of 10, you cant even notice them, but in certain lights it drives me insane. My XF is sort of a DD, so I try not to be too ridiculous, but my volvo is on the highways 3xs as much as the XF and has literally only 2 rock chips. thats it. The XF bumper is cursed. I'm sure down the road I'll take the plunge and get the front end repainted...but it doesnt look so terrible that I can justify spending the $950 I was quoted.
