Unhappy Headliner Falling

When I first got my Crossfire, the headliner was starting to bubble around the sunvisor brackets. About a month ago, the headliner actually started to peel away around the corners of the windsheild. This week, the entire passenger side has fallen and I can now no longer see the line running along the ceiling.

Has anyone else had issues with their headliner falling? What would be my best bet to fixing this without having my car smell like aerosol glue to paste it back up?

You can get a whole new headliner installed for < $150.

I had pits on my 07 & contemplated having a new windshield installed .....then one day a serious rock hit dead center...had a shop come to my house to install a new windshield....in the process they got some black adhesive on the leading edge of the headliner....visible only from the front outside of the car. The windshield company probably thought the headliner was more expensive than the windshield so they accepted my offer to just drop the charge for the windshield install. I called around & got quotes for the headliner.....cheap??? But then I figured I'd just black out the whole leading edge of the liner....can't be seen from inside the car ...actually looks better than being able to see that white edge of the headliner from outside the car.

So basically I got a free windshield.

Just call body shops & ask them who they would recommend to do the headliner....then call for a quote/s...you might be suprised.

Alright, thanks for the heads up and nicely done with the free windshield. These cars are so expensive, getting anything for free is a straight up blessing!

Gaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! My worst fear. my HL around the sunvisor brackets has looked a ittle "puckered" ever since I purchased it. I hope it doesnt go in the direction yours did. Keep us (or at least me) informed as to how the repair process goes.

The headliner falling in this car is going to happen. It is just a matter of time. Don't go to the dealership or do it yourself. Pay 120-140 (like I did) and have a professional do it. It is worth every penny not to mess with it yourself! Some say it is easy.... it is NOT! Don't fool yourself!

The factory didn't properly wrap the headliner and must have used crappy glue. That is what the headliner guy that did my car said. He has been doing headliners for 40 years and couldn't believe that a new car like ours was having this issue. I think he charged me 120 and did it in a few hours. I think I gave him an extra 20 as a tip

I re-did the headliner in my Firebird and it was a pain to do myself. The roof molding in the Firebird is basically flat while the crossfire has all sorts of different things to go around or get just right. I wasn't even going to attempt to do this myself. Getting it professionally done is definately the smart way to go on this one. Thanks for the heads up black. At least now I know I'm not the only one that's had this issue.

Trust me... you don't want to do it yourself. 140 dollars for the entire job is worth every penny. Some claim it is easy and they have done it themselves.... but more power to them! My time is way to valueable.

You are not the first person to have headliner problems and you won't be the last. I would say this is one of the 3 common problems (or defects) of the crossfire. The good news is after you get your headliner replaced it will last a LONG time and it will be better than the factory. Just stay away from the dealership and get someone in the headliner business to do the job.

You've put my mind at ease a bit. Thanks for he price estimates. mine is not having any issues other than the aforementioned sunvisor area (which has not worsened at all since I purchased the car) and hope I have a while until mine fails. BUT when it does, im thinking gray suede.........

It starts off as a small spot near the sun visor and slowly gets worse. That is what happened to me.

Grey suede may cost a little extra. But for the normal material (which matches the original pretty well) it seems like most people pay 140.

Had mine recovered for $175 last week by a local company that specializes in headliners. Money well spent.

Just make sure you take it to a place that knows what they are doing and doesn't break your trim clips, etc. I had mine done for about $125 a while ago and I spent last weekend replacing broken trim clips. Pain in the #ss.

A month ago I hopped into the car to find the headliner had fallen overnight. There was no warning signs that I noticed. It just fell. All of it, all the way across. Went to a custom interior shop and had it replaced for $300. It could have been less if I had not chosen some real spiffy material. Like my new headliner and am glad I spent a little extra for it.

Thanks!! I'm going to see if I have a local option, but if not, I'll definitely ring him up.

I just noticed this last week, but I figured you'd like this -- check out the headliner on your wife's CC. It's the same material as ours...

That Karmann-Wilhelm bloodline continues to permeate...

By the way, the guy at A-1 didn't have the OEM material in stock, so I went with something else. I stayed with the same color though.
