2004 going to Cali
I've been trying to sell my 2004 crossfire down here in Hawaii but so far no takers. So it looks like it's gonna be following me to Cali mid august. I replaced the muffler with a straight pipe here and I passed safety like a month ago so its good for a while. I was told though that I couldn't pass smog without the muffler, the cats and everything else is still in place though. If anyone from Cali could help me out with this info I would be very appreciative.
I would replace the straight pipe when possible. Hopefully you kept the muffler and it's a quick fix.
Kawlifornia looks down on that type of stuff rather harshly. Can't even put an after market air intake on a crossfire unless it has the California Air Resources Board stamp of approval and none of them do..........
I brought a crossfire into to cali from texas in may. What a PITA. Smog check, visual check and then 20 minute inspection at the DMV to verify VIN #'s and that all the emmissions stickers were still under the hood. The wife sure loves her car so I guess it was all worth it.

Cali is a mess! What a rip off. And they wonder why the state is going under. So much red tape... how can anyone live there?
Where I live they do a quick safety test. Slam on the breaks and check the signals.... hand you a sticker. They don't plug things into the computer or do any of that nonesense. Smog test and all that junk is just another way for the state to make extra money.

The muffler is AFTER the cat and won't have an effect on your emissions. You can pretty much make any mods you want AFTER the cat. The smog test station won't care about your strait pipe. Now if you get pulled over by any LEO's for excessive noise, that's a different issue...
