Hi all,
As you can probably tell by my name, I'm an Old Man, with a Geo Metro (1993 Lsi Convertible). I've had fun for the last 10yrs, sinking thousands of dollars into the car. I decided a few months ago, it is time to get a real car, while I still can.
I sold the Geo today!
I have 3 test test drives with 3 different dealers tomorrow. One Roadster and 2 coupes. I'm pretty sure I want a coupe with auto. This past year, I have found out that pushing in a clutch more than 5 times an hour requires heavy doses of oxygen.
If any of you So Cal guys or gals know of any good cars available in the area, I sure could use a heads up. I have 14K to spend and would really like to find an X-Fire with something less than 50k miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have been wandering around this forum for the last month or so. What a great site!
I'm looking foreward to spending lots of my (Retired) free time here...that is, when I'm not out on the road in my new Coupe??? Roadster???

I don't know Gramps, going from 3 spark plugs to 12.....that's quite a leap. Are you sure you can handle it? I mean ya did say, "pushing the clutch 5 times an hour requires heavy doses of oxygen".
All kidding aside, you can't find a better car for the money. And you're not going to find a friendlier forum to move into.
I love my coupe, but if I lived in Calif. I'd probably have to add a XF roadster as well.
Good hunting, and welcome.

Go to Yahoo, select AUTOs, USED CARS, starts out at 50 mile radius (I think)....but you can expand that search ....all the way to include the whole country...
There's an SRT-6 80 miles away from you in Huntington Beach 28K miles for $16.8K............that's a decent deal....

Thanks for the replies.
I feel like a "Cheap Piece of Meat"...I was pounded and ground for 9hrs today. But, I'm now the proud owner of a Blue Crossfire Coupe. I was ready to call it a day, after my third visit to a Chrysler Dealer. I decided to make one last stop at a loal Cadillac dealer that had a coupe with a manual tranny.
Wow!!!
It looked like it just came off the showroom floor. It had the cleanest most spotless interior and exterior I have seen. I'll take some pics when I pick it up tomorrow.
The owner of the caddie dealership came out during the transaction and spotted a couple specs of dust (I had to look real hard to find them). He told the GM "No car, Cadillac or not, will ever leave this dealership with a spec of dust or dirt on it". He ordered the car to be washed and completely detailed inside and out. He smiled at me, introduced himself, and told me to be sure and tell my friends where I bought the car.
BTW: I drove the car for a good 40 min on the street and the freeway. I pushed that clutch in dozens of times. I never needed a drop of oxygen, but I couldn't stop smiling.

An the story goes on.....
I had to go back to the dealer today (Sunday) to give them the rest of the cash I owed. They were also having their annual BBQ, for their customers and employes.
I casually asked the GM if he might know why the tires were so noisy on the road. He said he didn't know, but if I wanted to take him for a ride, he would listen to them. They were conti's, with plenty of tread on them.
When we got back, he told me to have some food and drink and he would take care me. He asked for my key fob and left me in the food line.
About an hour later, he said it won't be long now. Another 45 min go by and he walks up to me, hands me the key and an envelope from Discount Tire. He said "every thing you need is in the envelope", shook my hand and started talking to an old repeat customer.
They and taken my car to the Discount Tire Store down the street. There were 4 new Falken FK452 tires on the car. The proper sizes, balanced and everything. The paper work in the envelop had the 50K warranty, Road Hazzard policy etc. Where the prices should have been there were a bunch of little x's. I know that had to be at least $900 to $1000.
This means If I live long enough to buy another car, it will have to be one of their Cadillacs. Sorry for the rather long post, but I have never had such a great experience with a car dealership before.
Welcome aboard Gramps. I'm a Grampa too, and my Granddaughters think my black coupe is cool. They call it the Batmobile. Sounds like your dealership is a good one!
Welcome aboard Gramps, Sounds like you got a great car plus a great dealer. I picked up a 07 silver coupe with 1650 miles a couple of months ago and told every one I bought it for my Grand daughter who is six. So I hope to keep it till she is at least sixteen. I also have a grand son who is 4 and he likes the Vipers best. I haven't figured out how to handle that yet. Also have the noisy Condi's plus I'm a little older than you if that helps and I still like to go fast.
Thanks for the welcome.
I looked at 2 roadsters and 3 coupes, all with autostick. I really didn't want a manual transmission. I checked out the stick coupe anyway. It was the most well kept, of the group. I was blown away when I drove it. It was almost scary fast. None of the autosticks came close to the quickness of this car. As far as I can tell the car is a completely stock Limited.
