Cheers Chris,

I managed to haggle him down to £80 delivered, he wouldnt budge any more. Did you get K&N's for yours? I'm thinking of getting them or the pipercross ones.

I'm running a custom single CAI at present, with the different style MB engine cover, but want to go back to more of a stock look that the insurance company would probably prefer.

I have lots of 3" silicone pipe connectors and pipes left over from when I made the CAI so I'm going to try to mate it all together and run pipes to just behind the grill to get as much cold air as possible. I dont want to lose the response I have at present with the CAI.

I'm London based (work near Richmond), so if you need connecters and 3" is the right size, you are welcome to a couple of them.

Regards

AR

cheers AR.. is there much stretch in the 3" connectors as the pipes on the airbox i would say are maybe three and a quarter inches and the intake pipes on the xf are 3" if they will work i would be very grateful to you for them mate, as for filters i just used standard filters from an autofactors they are made by mann so decent make, would have liked to go down the k+n route but mrs. is already rolling her eyes for spending (they dont understand )...

Chris,

I think the connectors I have will work, but I will have to have a look and see how stretchy they are and get back to you. My cover should arrive within the next couple of days, but I will try and have a look tonight and let you know for sure. They are blue silicone by the way - I couldn't find black ones anywhere!

Regards

AR

Chris were you not given intake pipes with your new cover? If not you can buy bigger tubes to accommodate the bigger pipes or you can keep your stock crossfire tubes and get a rubber connector to help with the different. I am not 100% sure it is very safe to be driving with a gap between the intake tubes and the inlet. If you were driving on a very rainy day and or a very dusty road you don't want either getting into your engine. Hope all is well. As for the fitment of the cover I am not entirely sure it'll fit exactly...the description does not git what other posts are saying fits our cars, but again I could be wrong.

New engine cover did fit - no cutting necessary!

Chris those silicone connectors do fit the tubes on the cover - so let me know if you need some.

Check ebay for the rubber connectors you need. They are made with different sizes on each side.

But by doing that, you are not taking full advantage of your new airbox. Those small OEM tubes are still being reduced down to attach to the plastic housings at the core support.
