I'm Moving On! Yippee
I normally would say "I hate to say this... but im moving on" but I cant say that this time. I am fricking Stoked. I am finally getting rid of my piece of crap crossfire. Since the day I bought it theres been problem after problem after problem, I definitely got one of those vehicles in which you call a LEMMMMMMMMMMMMMON, and it sucked. I had my car in the shop in 2008 for, BRACE YOURSELF, SIX MONTHS STRAIGHT. The transmission needed to be replaced and it w=as a mechanical story from hell, sucked *****, Big Blue ones! I couldnt take it anymore and decided to get rid of the beast. Besides losing its value I would probably have to put 4-6 grand into it to just to get it to its stock condition. I am moving on to Bigger and Better Things.
I am proud to present to you the CADILLAC STS-V:

I Bought a 2006 with 25,000 Miles on it. They Dealer was Asking $28,000 for it and I got them down to $22,000 because I had my own financing. Hell of a deal.
This bad boy Has 470 Stock HP. 4.4 Liter Supercharged V8
It actually has room in it.
Every feature you can think of:
-Heated Seats (all of them)
-Heated Steering Wheel
-Touch Screen Navigation
-XM Radio
-Bose Stereo System
-Heated Steering Wheel
-Push Start
-Remote Start
-Blind Spot Sensor
-Lane Departure Sensors
-Backing Assist
are just a few of the MANY.
The only thin the crossfire has on this is the unique styling.
Yay! WooT WooT!

Is the Cadillac in the picture yours? or a picture from the internet? it's a great car M5 eater from what I've heard. Goodluck with your new car hope you enjoy it.
Its the one I bought, It has a few of the D3 Upgrades. She Dealership Sent me a bunch of info about the car and one of the links they sent me was to the previous owners car domain account page. Thank You btw.
Very impressive! Seems as you wont have to do anything to it, visually atleast. Make sure you pop in here every now and then. At the end of the day were all car lovers and enthusiasts and whether it's a Chrysler, Cadillac BMW etc I for one appreciate nice cars of all types.
Thats a great looking car ,, Wow what a find Good Luck. I have a question, How does having you own financing help you talk down a dealers price? I will be in the market next year for a car and have no problem with financing, and would like to use that tactic as well.
Beautiful new ride!! Did you trade in your XF? I'm sorry that you had all those issues. It would be awesome if you posted the vin for your old ride so no one got stuck with your "lemon". I'm sure you wouldn't wish all the crap you went thru on anyone else.
Very nice...enjoy.
But like the Crossfire not every Cadillac or GM tech can work on your "V" especially with D3 upgrades. I have the D3 Stage I package on my 2006 XLR, D3 is a licensed GM/Cadillac provider so if the car is a CPO or still under warranty you are in good shape (if the upgrades were done by D3 or Cadillac). Just make sure that the upgrades were done by D3 or Cadillac, if they were done by the previous owner or a non GM/Cadillac mechanic you may have warranty issues later.

AS FOR EVERYONE ELSE. Thank you very much for your support, im actually surprised. I thought Id get torn a new one for leaving the crossfire. I thought id still swing by and say goodbye though. Ill make sure I stop in again. I definately would buy another crossfire, itd just have to be an srt-6 this time. Take Care everyone!
Enjoy what makes you happy! Personally, I'd be interested in knowing why your XF was such a dog.
But then, Wednesday night, I went and looked at a nice Red Limited Roadster in Stone Mountain, GA. It was my "roadster with a stick" I've been looking for - until I actually SAW it. Car ran fine, but smelled funnny. Showed odd signs of discoloration INSIDE the headlights.
When I got home, I ran a carfacts... the car has been registered in Bilioxi, Mississippi the past 4 years.
It's almost like, maybe, they had a flood there and this car was in it.
WHen I got there, I realized SOMETHING was up: it's on a buy here - pay here lot.

New ride looks great....never seen an STS-V before?
How about some details on what went wrong with the XF.....how many miles did you have on it, did you race it, run it hard ....or did it just give out totally unexpectedly???

Cash deals getting a better deal is an old school mentality. This isn't they way it works any longer. My rough estimate is that I have helped with the purchase & financing of over 10,000 cars, so I guess I can be considered an "expert" in auto financing/purchasing. Dealerships make money when they do the financing for you. By saying that you are going to purchase the vehicle cash they have the least opportunities to make money on your car deal with backend product so they MUST hold on the front end of your deal (the price). The best way to buy a car right now is to walk in with your own financing in your back pocket (but don't tell the dealer), tell them you have only your trade & no cash. This will make the dealer "load" your trade for more money & reduce the price of their car the most that they can to put the deal together. It helps if you ask questions about the cost of a warranty & gap on the vehicle you are purchasing. These are both great products & I am a fan of both, but the dealer does turn a profit on both of these. Once you walk into F&I to sign your contract, just ask them what the payment is with $5k down or whatever you feel like putting as your down payment. You can also ask them at that time if they can match your own bank financing. If they match the financing from your bank, use the dealership's financing. Those folks only get paid if they make money off you & the banks pay them to bring them financing. If it is the same rate as your own bank, who cares - help them pay their bills. I hope this will help you with your next car buying experience. Keep in mind that dealer's methods are always evolving. Most people are on a 3 year trade cycle, so what worked a few years ago isn't always going to be the best way to buy a car today. You wouldn't surf the web with 3 year old anti virus software & think you are safe because the info is outdated - you need to think of the dealers the same way.

I did just what you said when I was buying mine: they offered a rate of .25% over my bank but their financing was for 5 years, not 4. So it WAS a good deal, IMO. They made a LITTLE in the form of kickback/commission from their bank and I made out fine as well.
Looks like I have my car sold and have found TWO others to choose from. THIS time, one car is from an individual, so there I'll go to the bank that financed my present car. The other one is a dealer, and I'll keep my eye on THEM to see what they can find.

Kim, you took the words right out of my mouth,, the only differance i do is i ask them to lower the price of the veh. to 2 to 400 dollars below invoice, and i will finance with them,, don't care what interest i get but fight for a very low interest rate,, then make one payment ,,then pay it off,(paid it in full) talk to me kim is that a good way? jim
Congrats on the STS-V! That's easily the nicest one I've seen. Those wheels look amazing!
Sorry to hear your XF was a lemon but hopefully you'll come back to us someday with a story of a cherry SRT6 in your garage.

the ability to walk away from a deal and go across the street and buy a comptetiors car with cash is the biggest bargining chip you can have.
dealerships typically look at a 3 to 5000 $ markup on their cars. thats were the cash comes in. im willing to let them make 1000$ profit andf no more. if they wont budge its walkin time. if i do make it to the door i usually get a call within a couple days.
things that help the deal.
timing... end of the month , end of the quarter salesman hungry to move cars.
time the car has been on the lot.... over 60 days its close to auction time and they will lose the money spent in interest payments
i rarely trae a car in..... affects the sales price . sell it privately and use the cash in the deal
just my .02 but like doc im "OLD SCHOOL" money talks B.S. walks!!
btw nice car!! i hope you enjoy the caddy and its trouble free . if it ends up needing more power call rudy to put a benz motor in it!!

There isn't a mythical used car factory that pumps them out - they buy them wholesale from people trading them in & at the auction. Most used cars at franchise dealers come from trades - about 85%. If you think that 85% of people are selling their cars to the dealerships for 3-5k below its value (don't forget that each trade has to get put thru safety too) then you really haven't even seen someone trying to trade in their "beloved" car. If you are buying a 50k car then they usually have some room in the car, but in regular 15k cars?!? They didn't buy those things that cheap. On top of that the banks tell them how much they can finance the vehicle for depending on the credit of the customer. There isn't anything wrong with buying the car the "old school" way - trust me, the dealership would prefer it. They see someone who thinks they are an "expert" walking thru the door & all that it seen is walking dollar signs. I know that's what I see. No one has to believe me or not, but this is what I do for a living & I am very good at my job. I work for a bank doing auto loans now, but before this my last 2 jobs were as a finance director for a DCJ dealership and a General Manager over 2 dealerships in a national used car group. I promise you that I really do know the best way to buy a car.
Congrats on the new Caddy rakoom2002. I hope things work out better for you on this one.
