I found this to be a real help with my Xfs and Mercedes.

That is one of those things that make you go...... Duh, why didn't I think of that. Nice, thanks for sharing. I ordered one. I actually got it from here as it was $15 cheaper after shipping. Only 9.95 with free shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/12mm-...item4cf269d5a2

you can also just get a couple of 3" or 3.5" 12mm bolts and cut the heads off and do the same thing....

Yep, I have never really had a problem either, but it does take me using both feet and one hand to position the wheel while I use the other hand to get the first bolt in. This will be much easier on my old back.

OK I guess I need to come clean. As Paul Harvey would say and now for the rest of the story. I was taking my wife's Mercedes in to have her summer tires and rims removed and her winter tires and rims put on and Sam's club stripped the hub/bolts on the right front. It cost them almost $ 800 to get that fixed. So after that I felt $16 was good investment to ensure I did not do something like that when I do the rim cleaning on my Xfires. Kinda felt it was cheap insurance.

Oh I was amazed at how you needed to use a special Mercedes tool that screws into the front bumper to pull the car onto a flat bed. It was a much nicer system then we have on the Xfire. It was in the trunk right where it was supposed to be. Shows you how often I look there or drive that car. The drivers manual comes in a leather case and it is about the size of a bible or hard back novel. Waiting for the tow truck it made interesting reading.

Good find, both of you.

yep, I remember that.....I put one lug bolt in the wheel, hoist her up, turn on the hub 'till I feel where it should be, adjust....I would have given more detail, but it always sounds like sex to the old guy....like I hoist her up, turn her until I feel the hole, and screw her in.....old well, I quess that happens with age....

I found this to be a real help
This is a nice aid when changing wheels and one that Volvo has done for years on their cars. My wife's S60 has five lug nuts, but their is a sixth hole on the rims that align with a small protruding guide found on the hub. When changing wheels on the Crossfire, I use a screw driver when aligning the wheels to the holes. Put it through the wheel first, then through the top most threaded hole on the hub. Lift the wheel onto the hub and all the holes line up.
I'll be putting my winter wheels on in a few weeks and a tool like the one mentioned would be helpful.

I guess we need a sticky where we can post the best of the forum items that get lost thru time. Like they say NOTHING is new just recycled.

I bought a set of Ebay guides. They are almost too pretty to use.

At least your memory hasn't failed yet.
