Weirdest thing ever happed today
today I jumped in the Xfire at 6:30am and without heating her up i started to drive due to being late to work. less than a 1/4 mile later, while I was trying to change the radio channel, i noticed I revving the engine to about 5k RPM because I thought I was in gear, but In fact i was in netrual. No big deal, put her in gear and approached to a light. I stopped and noticed engine is idling rough. Not rough to a point where it looked or sounded like it had a big cam or it was gonna stall, but it was rough enough to shake your butt slighly in the car. I revved her up to a 2k rpm or so thiniking it would get back to normal but nope. I started to drive and oh boy engine started to shake even worse, felt and sounded like eash cylinders werre miss firing, etc. I immediately pulled over, turned the car off. 30 seconds later I restarted to car, and everything was just fine.
Now, what in the hell was that? Any opinions? Previous experiences? It was pretty scary. I just thought maybe it had a small glitch and needed to be recalibrated. But why this even happened in the first place? Kind of worried me.
Thanks folks!

Sounds like some controller/processor got caught in an endless loop, not doing it's job. The only thing I would ask is - how old is your battery?

I bought the car at 38k and it now has 48k on it. The same battery. I am not sure how old it is.
If it's white, it's likely the original battery.
I'd go to O'Rielly's and spend $89 on a new one.
My ford van does what your car did, about once a month, and I cure it just like you did.
No codes ever set - local shop has no idea what it is.

But, could this problem related to my battery? It was awkward. The car started to missfiring pretty bad all of a sudden, and a simple restart fixed it.

And I will pick an 07 mustang GT. We will switch it whenever we feel like it
That problem may be a crank position sensor starting to act up.... that is how my Aero acted the first time at the race track... started but was real rough... turned off and re-started and everything fine. Did you get a CEL?

went on vacation for a week, left the crossfire in the garage, when I came back noticed the spoiler up..Blood boiled for a minute thinking the house sitter was off playin in my car! only to find a dead battery.
Battery had been no problem up until that point, but after replacing the battery noticed a huge differnce on start up..turn the key and theres all sorts of juice there...where as before it always cranked and started but never noticed how slow it cranked!
also after I removed my rcm and cleaned it..after start up it ran like on 4 cyl till I cut it and restarted it then it ran like a charm!

I've had that happen in my truck. It was ignition cable going out. If you find it happening more often, I would have the cables checked.

um, right everyone?
I have had multiple cyclinder missfire when in that situation, restart clears it but I get a code that has to be reset with my Zeitronix reader. Woody
