Made it Back to Cali...
the trip was an awesome experience for me. I was able to do some sightseeing along the way, meet very interesting people, and of course get to drive the SRT across the country. Did it in 3 1/2 days. I drove 2K miles straight in a day and a half just beast mode with no sleep not sure how I did it.
I did have a accident with the car. I was east of Albuquerque, NM coming into the city around 12:15am and a truck down the way had blew a tire and it was in the middle of the fast lane as I was going about 65-70. Completely dark with no cars around and I had a split second to swerve and try to avoid it even with the headlights, but it clipped my passenger side of the car and went completely under the car. As I did this I went off the road and the car slid into the median of a gravel ditch and which shot rocks up onto the car. Luckily I wasnt hurt and the car didnt sustain much damage. Thankfully it was driveable.
The bumper needs repainted, passenger fog light was destroyed, window has a big crack. I take it in next week, so I will add some stuff to her that I had planned anyways as she is being restored to perfection.
All in all the car got me home safe and drives like a dream. Also, I was able to meet Frank and he took very good care of the car and was upfront about everything. As soon as he punched it for the first time I was in love and ready to take her home.

That is why I am very hesitant to ever sell my crossfire. I put so much effort in protecting the car I would hate to see what the new owner would do to it.
Had a camaro once. Not a ding or paint chip for 5 years. Not an imperfection inside or out because I took great care of it. Sold the car to buy the crossfire and it was auctioned by the dealer. 3 months later wrecked and hasn't been on the road since. I am done selling cars I love... Which is why the crossfire will never be sold. I am not saying my story applies to you. I am just rambling.
Glad you made it back ok. A good body shop will make it even better than it was before. Maybe even remove some rock chips that may have been there already. Just be glad you made it home safe and got to bond with the car. Now that you are home give the car a nice rest and a good wash/wax.

SoftballJunnkie,
Sorry to hear of your misfortune with the car.
Hope you get it all corrected quickly and just look forward to having a great car from a good fellow member here.

I hit one of them road gators with my truck and kicked it back into my travel trailer..... got lucky and only put a relatively small (cantaloupe size) dent in the metal with no holes.....
Sorry for your grief... get her fixed up and all decked out.....

Glad to hear the good news of your arrival in CA. Sorry to hear of your gator troubles in NM. That particular part of I-40 is all downhill from the Glorieta Pass and even in daylight is fraught with debris. A veritable Frogger event for travelers! Again, so glad you're in your new home in the 'Golden State". SEND PIX. WHEN YOU CAN!

My insurance is telling me its under collision instead of comprehensive because the tire was in the middle of the road and I should of been driving more defensively lol what a joke. The area was completely pitch black and their were no traffic around. Oh well, I guess I am going to make them cover everything then. Good ol' state farm.
