New owner
Hello
I joined this forum in November specifically to find a car to buy. I am very impressed with this site, and how civil it appears to be (I haven't spent any time in the political area, so perhaps that is where all the venting takes place).
The very first day I joined, I found what I wanted and as of this past Sunday, the car is mine. I fly out to Connecticut on Thursday to pick it up and drive it home.
Last week I found a set of SRT wheels listed on Craigslist and bought them. They were listed by the M-B dealer in West Chester, which took the car and extra wheels in on trade some time ago. They look to be brand new. The SRT owner must have taken them off when the car was new and replaced with custom wheels.
My other toy is a 1940 Packard Super Eight. It is a top-of-the-line car with factory-installed air conditioning and just 57,000 miles.
Are there any other Dayton-area Crossfire owners regularly visiting this forum?

In addition to the info in my signature, this is what I found in the "for sale" section:

Welcome aboard, I am sure you will love it here
We are over in Indianapolis, so not too far from Dayton. I have family moving to Dayton at the moment, so I should be over that way more often and will give you a shout when I do.

I'm not usually interested in modifying my cars. When buying second hand cars I tend to try to do the best I can to make them the way I would have ordered them when new. For instance, I really love a black- or charcoal-colored car with an orangy/reddish interior.
That said, I'd love to find a cedar/slate interior. If I can find a car being parted out, how difficult would it be to swap the door panels and the other colored panels around the transmission tunnel? Is this interior color hard to find? Would anyone be interested in swapping?

Congrats and good luck. You have good taste as far as cars and color.
I also like the cedar interior, I hope you find a cedar interior, make sure to post pics if you do.
I put SRT wheels on mine but with MB caps. Just a suggestion, save your OEM wheels, if you can. It doesn't hurt to have a back up set in case of damage or theft.
Tomorrow's the day (Thursday). I fly to Hartford and will finally ease into the Crossfire and head west. I plan on making a stop in Allentown, Pa. to visit the Nicola Bulgari car collection, Hershey, Pennsylvania to visit the AACA Library and Museum, possibly to Kent, Ohio, to see a very good friend, and then into my driveway Friday evening. Looks like it will be roughly 850 miles, hopefully all smiles.

I made it home without any troubles, and am very impressed with the car and how it handles... on dry pavement. I especially like the interior, which I had assumed from the photos was medium grey in color. It turns out that it's dark slate gray, or black, and looks extremely good. The seats are nice, but after 850 miles during a two-day period, I was really ready to get out and stay out (my back's been giving me a lot of troubles, lately).
It started snowing very hard while I was on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but had not yet accumulated on the well-traveled lanes. There were a couple of times in Kent, Ohio when I got into parking lots that were loaded with ice, and I quickly got to see how much this car hates to be on ice.
I love the base coupe without any of the "bells and whistles." With the dealer-installed leather seats, it really feels like a sports car in a modern-day sense of the original Porsche Speedster. No gizmos, no gadgets, no extra chrome... just plain fun!
I'm not altogether sure what first gear is used for???...

I lived on the north side of Atlanta for 16 years.
There's another thing in common with where you live and Dayton... While we have probably the best airplane museum in the world here at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, there is a surprisingly nice airplane museum in Warner Robbins as well.
