Battery Cut-Off Switch ???
Hi all . . .was looking at a xfire ragtop, and noticed the owner had a battery cutoff switch wired into the negative battery cable. The guy said he was selling the car for his girlfriend, so didn't know much about it . . . . . I am concerned that there are electrical issues that someone did not figure out. Figured it would be easier to turn off the battery, rather than track down a draw on the battery . . . . how much do you think it should affect the value of the car ???
Could take HOURS to try and figure out the problem I am thinking (maybe like $1k worth off the price ???)
Your comments are appreciated . . . .
Thanks,
Mark

My guess is someone added this cutoff switch to use when in storage, or thinking that it would make the car harder to steal. If you get the car ... get rid of the switch! Our cars do not react nicely to removing current to all the computors and sensors we have.
To use this to hide a current draw, would entail having a lot of gizmos and lights come on at every start up. Altho, someone might have done this that way, the chance is probably .00000001%. Have fun !!!!!

yes sir....cut offs were used for storage in the old days, but you need battery tenders today...due to the eletronics....I wouldn't be afraid of it....and roadster are hard to find in good condition....welcome...get that baby bought...winter is the best time to buy....
