List of reasons a car will not start etc
List of reasons a car will not start etc
Spread over this forum are the answers to most problems a Crossfire encounters, the trouble is they are really spread out.
What is needed is a thread that lists all the known problems and the answers. Some threads say the car will not turn over if so and so part fails, another thread says it will turn over.
We could start with the well known problems, Crankshaft PS, RCM, Camshaft PS, Ignition switch etc.
There are thousands of threads and hundreds of good answers but often the answer is hidden in the middle of a thread with fifty replies, some of which may be in error.
As the threads grow in number the answers get buried deeper.
Just isolating that answer that carries the truth and putting it in new forum should not be beyond our common skills is it?
As it is we see old questions re-asked and new answers offered some good and some bad. Lets improve the good answers not perpetuate the bad ones.
How can it be done?
I say take one problem at a time chew it over among ourselves, decide on a good answer and set it in stone, an untouchable sticky.

I propose we start with the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS).
I volunteer to collate all the answers in the first post of a new thread. We can also direct viewers to existing threads that cover the problem well. Some threads are good but lack some important fact. We will give credit to those people whose threads have been used for info or were rewritten in some way.
We need:
symptoms
codes set
etc.
OK, let's hear from you.
Re: List of reasons a car will not start etc
If you have had a problem with the CPS let us know the signs of that problem so that we can make up a comprehensive list of symptoms.
We want a good description of the problems, not 'my car would not start'.
When this has been sorted we will go onto other common problems.
Ok, lets go.

Re: List of reasons a car will not start etc
I'm keeping PDF's and Links of the DIY documents, threads etc. of the various problems and fixes in my own computer file. I just started doing this but think 180s idea of a specific thread for each issue, with specific descriptions and known fixes, DIY info and / or dealer cost / part info would be great. It is getting more burdensome to sift through the threads and find the actual fixes and in some cases to even find the best thread. Thus, I think it's a great idea.
With that said, sifting through the threads has still been incredibly more efficient and valuable than any other means of problem identification / resolution. This forum and it's members are the best. I'm thankful so many people are willing and able to go the extra mile to help their fellow Crossfire owners.
