Navigational System
I recently traded in my black '04 coupe and purchased a black '08 coupe. One of the factors which influenced my decision was that the '08 had the navigational system, a $1700 option.
For my money, I'd have to say that the system has proven to be absolutely useless. It seems that every time I try to enter a street, the system doesn't recognize it. Parenthetically, these are streets have been in existence for over 50 years.
I'm probably going to end up purchasing a GPS system in the $300-$400 range.
Are there any members who are satisifed with the factory navigational system????

There are several threads here where members have asked about, and complained about, the Nav system.
But then, you now have a MUCH newer Crossfire with (I assume) lower miles - so you aren't out anything.

I followed Bluecoupe to Woodward and we were both using it. We both changed lanes together under its directions. He used it to go to the Dragon and had no problems at all. I was not so sure and purchased a Garmin 1490. But I like gadgets, that's why I added the Becker disk changer to it and I didn't have any Cd's until the changer came with some in it. LOL
Its OK really and it is what it is, outdated but what the heck.
The factory nav is a unique novelty and usually works fairly well. Prompts are timely and accurate when running interstates (minor-road info can be spotty) and I just love that sexy British lady's voice. Compass is a must.
But when it does make a mistake, the error is huge and the results can be comical.

Doctor Wife gave me a Tomtom last Xmas.
It makes an excellent doorstop
Has anyone considered those rear view mirrors with GPS built in? Some of them will even handle a rear end camera.
FWIW, some of the clue-challenged posters in this community would likely be better served by the OnStar mirrors from Best Buy offering spoken turn by turn navigation.
OTOH, it would prolly just give them another warm body to marginalize

Nav System = Not useless but close to it, fun novelty - I like it but don't know why!
One more reason to go with the base model. No frills, all fun. Less to go wrong.
(Yes, I know it was an option).
Also on the plus side, the base never came with the cupholder

When we bought our first Crossfire, the Chrysler dealer used car salesman told us they were useless. Neither of ours have the nav system. From everything I've read about them, that was about the best advise I've ever had from a used car salesman.
I have it in both cars and works well for 10 year old technology. I also have a Magellan I purchased last year...........I don't find it any better or worse, both systems have sent me on wild goose chases, Google and Mapquest aren't much better! Celestial navigation next
I don't have the nav but it looked to be pretty draconian anyway. I have 2 Garmens - one for my XFire and the other newer one for my son's Bonnevile. Both work great. They can be place in a better location for vision while driving, have been very accurate, provide traffic info and just about anything else you need. For $150, you can't beat it. I love technology, but only if it works and provides some value.
I use mine all the time and in fact used it today coming back from a 4 hour trip to Suffolk, Va and I never have any problems using it. It doesn't have visual maps like my wifes car but I listen to the commands not look at the pictures. The only problem I see is there isn't any updates available but other than that I love mine.

I'm happy with mine, I think I've used it 2 or 3 times since I've had it.

I agree with the group that it falls in line with cup crusher. I used mine on the way to the Dragon and it was exceptible to Fontana. The reason for the comments is I just bought my wife a new Garmin 1490LMT (lifetime maps and traffic) for less than $200. I think $20 a year you can add Speed Cameras and traps. Plus I picked up a OBDII adapter for it and it Blue Tooths most of engine outputs to it in the form of 5 gauges + it will clear trouble codes. I thank I might a gadget guy too. I hope to borrow it from her for the Colorado GTG this summer.
