Or you can contact tighed1, and do the swap with him. Cost, still low.

The real problem is your coroded battery post connection.

Tunaglove may be correct,

Check the obvious first, that may do it.

At least you now have the RCM repair for your records.

And thank all who figured the RCM thing out, I only posted what they did.

Yup, the RCM re-solder is one of the first things I did when I got the car and is also good advice. Good luck!

Since you brought this up, I should post that in the last year, my xf has stalled twice and failed to start once. All three times it was wet out side. The stallings occur while waiting for lights in active rain and post storm wet conditions. The failure to start was after a massive storm while I was at work, car was parked in the open and and i could not get it to start at all. After about an hour it just fired up. It did not crank on any of the three occasions, turn of the key and no crank. the episode was about 6 months ago. It seems logical that its a moisture issue but not sure at all. Anyone else have similar experiences?

That's the main clue as to the cause of the issue.

If you turn the key, and the car doesn't crank, then its the solder issue in the RCM.

If the engine does crank, but never fires up, then its most likely the Crankshaft position Sensor (CPS).

BC.
