Impossible MPG ???
you know Beaner, you just made me realize that gas mileage has never been brought up on all the conversations about the v6 to v8 swap. Looks like mileage will be cut in half for that added HP....I wouldn't have thought it to be that drastic of a drop, but it is....I like to travel some with these little cars, so if I were to do this, that would definitely be more of my weekend drag car. Changes my outlook on the conversion now.
Doc, you cant really go by what I have gotten so far for mileage. I have barely driven the car and mostly playing around so I am going to use alot more fuel than normal. Paul drove his car to the fall dragon and I think he was getting roughly the same MPG as Rubys modified srt6. Paul would be the guy to talk with.
I have not got any good mpg numbers yet so I can't post any...

I averaged 24.2 mpg overall last year, and 23.6 mpg since I bought the car back in OCT/2008. Considering the type of car and way I drive it (when I drive it), I'm totally satisfied. Typically, I'm getting somewhere between 22-23 around town and 26-27 on the highway.
I found a cut-rate station the other day that claims to have all pure gas (no ethanol). May try a tankfull next fill-up and see what happens.

Out in the People's Republic of California where gas is highly regulated (and oxygenated) I average around 17MPG city and have never got much more than 25MPG on the highway.
Could never quite figure how we are saving in air polution if we have to use more gasoline in the end. Its sorta like buying a 10 ounce tub of "whipped" butter rathern than a real pound.
BTW for something claimed to be 91 out here, it is over $4.19 a gallon and rising....daily!

I used to get good mileage.... In city driving can go about 275 miles before I am scared if I will make it to a station. if I have been playing a lot make that 225. Highway I am getting a little more than 300 miles on a tank. If you are really **** about mileage, the V8 is not for you. I am probably also a little disadvantaged with the 3.27 rear gear and more agreesive trans ratio's than the 55K Crossfires. BTW, if you really want good mileage on the highway, draft an 18 wheeler. You can almost take your foot off the gas and get pulled along if you are tucked in real close. Not highly recommended though.
Beaner, that must really be a blast. Fred & I found ourselves at a stop light next to a red NA XF earlier today....wife said "no-no-no.....!!!! Either he also had a stick or I got both 2nd & 3rd gear scratch....serious fun. But I was carrying the extra pounds (wife + full tank + snow tires + post all you can eat buffet)....he got me. He did get a jump on me....wife convinced me not to do it....but as soon as I heard his engine rev...had to go for it...it was neck & neck.
Afterward she said she'd never let Wilma go! She enjoyed it.

That's why my gas mileage stinks - when I can actually open her up & let her run she does quite well with the gas mileage.
None.
Zip.
To bad so sad.

I was a little shocked at the $8.90/gal price. I prayed that it was ok to put in the crossy since I don't know if race fuel is the same as 100 oct reg gas. BUT, I poneyed up $60 and got a couple of gallons.
Holy Crap!!!! I was on empty and within 3 miles it felt like a different car!!! at 85 I could punch it and feel the front pull up hard. The engine really seemed to spin easier and faster. At one point i was going about 95 and I looked down to see my tac at 6500??!! ( Is that ok????) I have a three hour commute home on weekends and today it seemed like everyone wanted to run. We (an audi, a subaru and an acura with a red badge? and ANOTHER crossy, red, maryland tags) had a ball on the long very fast 2+hour ride.
I enjoyed it and I hope the car did too cause at almost $9/gal, i won't be doing it again soon. Although I have a renewed interest in a Eurotune and some other mods. Thanks for reading my story!

Eurocharged recommended not to exceed 6200 with these engines back in 2008. I haven't heard anything different from them since.
My 6 spd hits 6200 RPM and a touch over 90MPH in third gear. I swagged my estimate of the autostick from driving Crumpy's SRT(don't tell her).
Both have had their RPM limiters removed from factory settings...about 5800 rpms.

NewieB, 2007 Aero Blue Coupe original owner bought it in 04/09. It has less than 7000 miles on it- automatic. I need to know; best air fillter to get this 30 mpg, where to get the right fuel to get this 30 mpg, what oil are you using? (0-40W or 0W-40 Mobile 1). I drive carefully, it is a new car...:^)
Plano, Texas. Where to get real fuel?
The ethanol messes with my lawn mower what all is it going to do to the car...
TIA
